Cute place, food is good, I’m not sure they make their own pasta, though. My dish was flavorful, but the texture of the pasta didn’t seem freshly made. My cocktail was great, and the garlic bread was tasty. It was very reasonably priced and our waitress was very nice.

We were fortunate to be served by the owner and hear about he and his wife’s lovely story. And, we met the talented chef. We loved the pomegranate infused Brussels sprouts. The tuna tartar dish was outstanding. Lastly, the main dish of the whole fish flavored with parsley, olive and roasted pepper paste was extraordinary. Highly, highly recommend it.

Thompson Italian was amazing! Food was delicious. Service was great. We started off with the lamb meatballs and some complimentary bread & olive oil. We got the squid ink bucatini (spicy, but sooo good), the trente, and the ricotta cavatelli. For desert we had the passion fruit sorbetto, the olive oil cake and the lemon tiramisu. Every single thing we had was absolutely amazing. And the decor was so adorable. The music was also amazing. We will definitely be back soon! So glad they opened a location in Old Town.

Highly recommend this new Italian restaurant on King Street! As a local, many of the places in Old Town Alexandria are either cheap and so-so or expensive and not as good as what you can find in DC. But the new Thompson Italian is a gem!

Really wonderful date night spot right on King Street! This is more of a modern take on Italian cuisine than traditional—but we thought the dishes and drinks were well-balanced, creative, and delicious. We recommend trying the honey cocktail, their farro and mushroom styled-risotto, the cavatteli, roasted chicken, and dairy-free rice pudding! Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere, and lovely service at all levels. We’ll be back!
