On May 8th, 2020 amidst the unforeseen Covid 19 Pandemic, Spicy Joi partnered up with a local restaurant named Rockin Crawfish located in Concord, CA. Spicy Joi opened as a secondary restaurant inside Rockin Crawfish sharing the kitchen to offer Banh Mi & Lao street food. Within a few months, the restaurant became a huge success by quickly rising to the top Asian restaurants in Concord. Spicy Joi is now expanding with a full menu offering three varieties of traditional Lao noodle soup dishes. Set to open in February 2022 we are opening our very first stand-alone brick and mortar restaurant. We owe a debt of gratitude to all of our awesome die-hard supporters through the past five years. And so the story of Spicy Joi continues…

Great little Lao spot near Concord / Walnut Creek. We were passing by and craving some Bahn Mi sandwiches so we stopped here. Both the Lao sausage and the bbq pork ones were really tasty. We also ordered the drunken noodles and the papaya salad to go with our meal.

Plenty of folks come here and are satisfied with this flavorful cuisine. The family that works here puts in a lot of effort and it shows. The prices are fair even in these days of inflation and uncertainty. The bánh mì I ordered was very delightful. If you are a fan of sausages, definitely try at least once the Lao sausage.

It looked like this restaurant had just opened. Very clean and friendly service. Curry chicken noodle soup was good. The other noodle dish was salty.

Tried Lao cuisine for the first time here and really enjoyed it! The staff was friendly and more than happy to recommend dishes and explain the flavors in everything. I’m excited to come back and try more stuff on their menu!

Wow this place is a must visit for yummy and authentic Lao food. I would order everything we got again. The crispy pork belly and sausages was a perfect bite every time I ate it with the sticky rice dipped in the jeo. The banh mi is my favorite, the tofu tastes smoked or charred, I’ve never had anything like it. The grilled chicken was just as good! I’d recommend taking home at least 2 spicy pork rinds because they are bound to be eaten all in the car ride alone. The lemonades was perfectly sweet and refreshing. And to complete the meal, we had Noelle’s perfectly made coconut desserts. I forget the name, it’s coconut layers that are as pretty as they taste.

Best banh mi I have ever had. And I have had them from some of the legendary spots in San Jose for 17 years.

I was so excited to try this place! Since I don’t live in the area, I ordered a bunch of things to try. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. It was also pretty pricey for the portion size (and I get that costs are rising but quality and flavor wasn’t there).
