My family stopped here for lunch and the service and food were amazing. We chose this place because we needed to have more food options, including gluten free, fish, and vegetarian. We had a Junior cheeseburger, Texas steak tacos, fish tacos, and stacked enchiladas. All of our food was incredible, even the simple cheeseburger for my son. For dessert we had a berry cheesecake that was probably the best cheesecake my wife and I have ever had, and we both love cheesecake. If we ever come this way again, we will definitely be eating here.

I recently dined at Cafe del Rio in Virginia City and was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant’s historic building felt like a blast from the past, adding to the overall charm of the place. Their menu offers a wide range of options, including tacos, burritos, burgers, salads, and even fried chicken. As an off-road enthusiast myself, I appreciated that Cafe del Rio is located on the south side of Virginia City, just moments away from several OHV trails. The friendly service made the experience even better. Overall, I would highly recommend Cafe del Rio for anyone looking for a unique dining experience in the area.

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. We have been here before, and had an enjoyable experience, but it appears it may be under new management. Our experience tonight … The wait staff was not friendly, our food came incorrectly made, although it took forever to get, we had to keep asking for water refills, it was freezing the restaurant and our group asked several times for the windows to be closed, and they never really even acknowledged that we asked. After requesting the ticket so we could pay several times someone in our group finally had to get a bit irate in order to get them to acknowledge and get our tickets done so we could leave… we were starting to feel like hostages…

Amazing vegan food with great vegan options! I honestly had low expectations as this is a small town in Nevada and even Lake Tahoe doesn’t have many vegan options, but the tacos blew my mind! They were amazing and I am already craving them again ⭐️

This cute little Mexican restaurant is open later than a lot of places in Virginia City. It has a fun, charming and cute atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service exceptional! I found the prices reasonable. (especially for Virginia City.) I will definitely go back.

The service was slow. Food was not brought out as ordered. We had to ask for more water and our drinks. The owner offered excuses and made us pay the 18% tip for being a group over 8. I love to tip well for great service. I will never go here again. Also the owner should get out of the business.

Cafe del Rio in Virginia City. Never had a bad experience here, and it has been a while, so a brief review. It’s Thursday, so the crowd here is all local, but there is still a pleasant buzz in the dining room. We got reservations just in case, and when we arrived, our table already had chips, salsa, and water waiting for us. Our server seated us, and took our order quickly after a brief chat. The atmosphere is pretty unique, as the restaurant is in an historic building in one of our more lively ghost towns, but my wife and kid both say it’s too cold every time we come so I’d recommend a nice sweater or jacket. The gospel fried chicken is just a blast to get every time. My wife had enchiladas, and she was thrilled with the fresh mole sauce. My son had enchiladas from the kids menu, which is nothing to write home about I’m sure, but he is a happy camper, it was warm and melty. It’s easy to tell everything is homemade, and with love. The chef came out to greet us and check on things, and everyone was just pleasant as can be. It felt like a fancy family holiday dinner with no drama.
