So we were in Chicago for a business trip, and we end up getting to the hotel, very late, and most of the restaurants in the area, already closed or about to close. As we randomly walk around the streets of downtown Chicago, we happen to see a place called Pizzeria Uno and decide to stop in to eat dinner since it looks cool And is actually open. To our surprise when we enter, it turns out to be the original location of Uno, and allegedly the original deep dish pizza. The staff were super friendly, and the venue was super cool looking, with a vintage atmosphere. They had a full-service bar as you walk in, and I was surprised to see they had whiskeys such as EH Taylor, Weller, etc. I ordered a double of EH Taylor, which set the mood for the evening. We ordered the Uno special per the recommendation of the staff, and we were actually quite happy with it. We have in the past tried deep dish Chicago pizza from a place that starts with a G, although it was in Orlando, because that’s where we actually lived, and we were not impressed. After eating that deep dish, my wife, and I agreed that we would never eat deep dish ever again, and at the time we only had a couple bites of that soupy pizza and gave the rest to a neighbor. We also had the house made meatballs, which were quite delicious. The deep dish pizza had meatball slices, onions, bell peppers, and pepperoni, along with the hearty tomato sauce and cheese, of course. Service was great, and they were very friendly. The price was reasonable and we were happy. We still prefer New York style pizza, but now we know that Chicago style deep dish is actually edible depending on where you get it.

This was my first time trying Chicago’s staple deep dish pizza! UNO’s was recommend to me and it lived up to the hype. I’m not sure if they offer reservations, but we were walk ins and we were seated promptly. It was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon. I went in a group of four, so we ordered the large pepperoni deep dish to share. For our appetizers, we ordered wings and fried calamari. I also ordered the pomegranate margarita. Our pizza came out quicker than the expected 45 min wait! Everything was delicious and hit the spot after walking the city all day. The service was also great! It was a fun experience!

I couldn’t remember if I had this pizza pie before. But after having it I knew that I would have remembered, because it was Delicious! You know, it’s funny that My Wife was the one that wanted to eat here that day and now I want to eat here again. The Bartender made it even better by also being Our Server. Keep making those tasty Pies.

We went there last month, tried deep dish pizza. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the taste and quality. Pizza sauce felt straight from canned-tomato sauce (NOT cooked a bit) and not seasoned properly, crust was very hard as well. Maybe Pizza pan received heat from the bottom only as a result top part wasn’t cooked properly and made crust hard. One should expect some bubble due to Yeast reaction which gives the texture and flavor to the crust, which was completely missing.

My wife, my two children, and I visited Chicago for the first time in April of 2022. We have been in the NYC area for the past four years, and I do have a pizza spot in Brooklyn that is some of the best pizza in NYC. However, we have had good deep dish pizza before, and we were more than willing to try this different style of pizza (even though some New Yorkers get very angry about the topic of deep dish pizza) and try to find the best deep dish in Chicago.

I mean, this place is historical, so what can go wrong right? You get the true deep dish experience. They have pizza in many sizes, we only ordered the individual ones, it’s cute and tiny but three of them were more than enough for 5 people. With the crust and the cheese I feel like it’s very much like quiche! Good experience even for someone who doesn’t like pizza like me.

Food is pretty good! Buffalo Bites are pretty salty though. The pizza was obviously the best thing on the menu. The individual sized pizzas are no joke. They may seem small, but those pizzas are heavy! So bring your appetite! Also, make sure you have ample time to eat here. The pizzas take 45 minutes to make.

The pizza was delicious (I ordered the classic Numero Uno), is a real deep dish, big, soft inside with buttery crunchy borders, lots of cheese and tomato sauce. Keep in mind that pizza takes 45 minutes to be ready once you ordered.

If you want to try Chicago-style pizza, you need to visit Pizzeria Uno. I like that they serve small pizzas and you can customize them to your liking. During our visit, we ordered a half and half pizza. One side was the “Numero Uno” and the other side was the “Four Cheese & Pesto” with an added chicken topping. The pizza was delicious, but the sides were too tough for my liking.
