This is the first time I have tried this place. I saw some negative reviews, which made me think twice about ordering. The chicken and waffles were amazing, I just wish they would give something other than wings. The Mac N Cheese was excellent as well. The greens were amazing, and I like that they were spicy. I would definitely order again.

Worst meal I ever had. The wings were the only edible thing. Mac and cheese dry and no cheese, burnt muffin, soupy yams loaded with sugar, salty greens, peach cobbler mush! So disappointed! I believe we got the end of what was left for the day. It was terrible. Threw it all away and ate the wings.

Ordered from Uber eats all I can say is highly disappointed!! I hate to slam black businesses first off I received nothing I had ordered pissed. Ordered Cheese steak that was supposed to come with fries and a Pepsi soda!! Instead I received 5 jumbo sized wings that taste like they were cooked in the same grease they use to fry their fish in. The wings not only taste like that but they had no seasoning on them what so ever then my other side that I did not pickwere salty and they were so kind to flavor them heavily with hot sauce!! Don’t get me wrong I love how sauce but that should have been my choice to add in if I wanted to. I then ordered Strawberry crunch cake but instead got the nastiest Peach Cobler that taste burnt and was all smashed up in the container it was put in. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I can say when I called the gentleman had excellent customer service skills he was very kind and polite. I had to laugh my name is not the most common but this day 3 Lacheles ordered lol and that’s how my food got mixed up. I live in Homewood my food took 2 hrs to come the kicker is although it was nasty as all get up it was hot like it was freshly cooked. Which leads me to think they were out of what I wanted gave me what they had cooked the wings fresh which explains the wait and substituted the whole damn ordered what a big disappointment!! Never in my life do better will never get my money again. My sides looked the exact same way as the people who co.plained about their food in a precious review no lies told it was horrible. These people are scam artists. Check your receipts. I went to House of Soul Catering twice. The first time I ordered a salad. I was surprised to find there was no chicken in my salad. I found it even more interesting because they don’t serve any salads without meat. So the lady was nice and gave me a refund and let me keep the salad. So I come back today and placed an order for six wings posted on there menu for 7.99. After paying for my entire order the lady walked away from the counter without giving me a receipt. So I asked for one. She said” o you need a receipt?” And I said yes of course upon looking at receipt I was charged 12.99 for six wings. I thought surely this was an innocent mistake so I confronted her when she gave me my food. I was then informed that a small menu placed on the counter has the true prices and the prices on the menu board are incorrect. So I asked for my 4 dollars back, no. I asked for a peach cobbler which was a dollar less, no. So I asked for a refund and was then informed that they don’t give refunds. I called the police they still didn’t give me a refund. This is theft by deception. See you in court. And after speaking with the owner I was informed the lady she had wasn’t authorized to give refunds and she can’t afford to change her price boards in her store. She also informed me that it will cost more to sue than what she owes me.

I ordered BOBW, fish was the only thing good, my chicken was not fully done alot of blood in it means the chicken was bruised. My sweet potatos had peaches in them I wish I knew that when I ordered. Some folks don’t eat peaches I was disappointed due to spending 30 something bucks the cabbage not good at all I won’t be back at all. Very disappointed in that so called soul food smh the Mac n cheese was dry as well I wasted ever buy the fish. Chicken taste like it was fried with the fish too. That’s why you all say no refund, you’ll see the reviews on her, if you ask me your not aiming to please customers either because it’s wild how you have at the restaurant NO REFUND… GOT FOLKS OUT HERE WASTING MONEY ON FOOD THAT ISNT SOUL FOOD OR GOOD

Hidden gem in the Whitaker area. Stumbled upon them when Carmi was closed and glad I did. I got 2x 5 full wing meals with 2x Mac and cheese, 2x yams, and 1x greens (feed a family of 4: 2 adults and 2 toddlers). Good thing I don’t live with my parent’s or my mama would have got the full open hand, j/k. Everything was on point, next best thing to a home cooked meal. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it. I’d love to see them in a more upscale setting, I think they would do very well as the food is some of the best soul food you can get in the Burgh, period.

Chicken Soul-bachi was awful. The vegetables looked and tasted like they were leftover from another day and some were burnt. The chicken wings were good. Mac and Cheese . I won’t get again. First time there. Haven’t decided if I’ll write them off or give them another chance.
