I’m pretty sure this is some of the best sushi in the entire US. Hidden gem in a hole in the wall. We are willing to drive the 55 min to go get more on another occasion. If you are down by Great Falls and don’t know what to eat, look no further.

Been going to Kanpai since they opened. Always fresh, reliable quality, friendly owner and staff. I also enjoy the variety of snacks that they sell and the basic Japanese condiments are mostly available when I don’t feel like a trip to the Asian grocery store. Reasonable prices. Love the daily lunch boxes, too. Best to call ahead because they get pretty busy, especially on weekdays.

What a hidden gem this place is. As soon as I walked in and saw the Japanese groceries, fresh fish, etc, I was reminded of another place I used to go to in Illinois that was very similar and had very good sushi. My expectations for this place were very high and I’m happy to say my expectations were met. I ordered a few simple rolls, they were made fresh in front of me, and they were all delicious. I really enjoyed the quality of ingredients and how fresh and delicious everything tasted. I’m usually not in this part of town very often but I’ll make sure to come back whenever I’m passing through.

Very compact Japanese market and takeout. No inside dining. I had avocado vegetable sushi for about $13. Tasty but no bargain. Credit card scanner solicited tip, which is ridiculous for food pickup, especially for Japanese restaurant (there is no tipping in Japan!). Relatively fast food prep though.

The sushi restaurant is decent. The sushi isn’t the best without ginger and/or wasabi, but it’s still pretty good. They carry a small collection of Japanese grocery as well, which is a nice touch.

This place is easy to miss but it is an absolute must try. They have excellent raw fish. I always get the lunch box special and have yet to have anything less than amazing. I wish I could give it 6 stars, a MUST TRY.

Love them!!! My order is completed quickly and weather I eat in or order out they always give me an apptizer sushi while I wait. Staff is friendly and when my 8 year-old comes they give her the kid chopsticks which makes her feel special. I love the lunch box special. Lots of food for a good price. This is a hidden gem!!
