The Settle Down Tavern opened on May 26th 2020! We are a neighborhood tavern located in the heart of Madison’s First Settlement District. We have an expansive patio right outside our front door. Our atrium seating is spacious and filled with natural light and plants. The tavern is a warm inviting space where guests are friends and friends are always top priority. I wanted to like this place more than I actually did. The restaurant has a very neat atmosphere; it feels like ‘old hotel meets hipster’. The staff were attentive and helpful. The menu here is surprisingly small; I think there are more drink options than food options. My small group tried several things, and our general consensus was that the food was fine, but nothing special, and felt maybe a bit overpriced (i.e. the burger cost a roughly normal amount until you realize it didn’t come with any sort of side). The general agreement with my friends was that we are happy to have tried this place, but likely won’t go back with any regularity.

My gf brought me here today after her positive experience here a few weeks ago. The breakfast burger and cheese puppies were incredible! It’s a somewhat limited menu, but I feel like their focus is on quality and not quantity. Our table was located in like an atrium thing and was really cool. Our waitress was suuuuuper chill and a total sweetheart. I’ll be back soon!

Really cool spot with great outdoor seating. The service was excellent, I felt very welcome and had a great chat with the waiters. I had a couple of drinks as well which were very well balanced, high quality and beautifully prepared. The food choice is not extensive but the offered options were great. I recommend getting the pickled veggies as an appetizer or side, since they were delicious.

Settle Down has consistently good food and drinks. The burger is unique and delicious. I personally love the deviled eggs as a starter as well. The menu is small, so if you’re not in the mood for burgers, probably go elsewhere. But each of their options is served wonderfully. I generally get the good idea burger and today I tried their breakfast version. It did not disappoint.
