Group seating, 16 people around a half elliptical table attached to a bar/prep area on the other side. Food was amazing, Ian’s personality was great, and of course the wine was spectacular. Ian was helpful with knowledge teaching various aspects of wine, was humble, humerus and made the whole dinner feel comfortable like a happy family dinner. For the price, you can’t beat the food, wine, or experience. Although it’s not “cheap” it is an amazing deal that you won’t regret.

Unique, extraordinary, wine tasting, food pairing, story telling, and educational experience facilitated by master sommelier and chief Ian Adamo in a cozy atmosphere at Somm’s Kitchen in Paso Robles, CA. The wide selection of the wines served at dinner time is amazing. The mere fact that 14 different champagnes, white wines, roses, and red wines are served – some retail-priced at several hundreds of dollars -is mind blowing when you compare it with the affordable price of each dinner which includes food (several courses) and wine /champagne tasting.

This was the most amazing experience! The food, the wine, the way the space is set up to promote community and conversation. It was all so perfect! Ian’s passion and knowledge shined through in every single dish and wine selection. If you are able to get a reservation here, don’t hesitate. You will not regret it.

What an amazing and unique food and wine experience. We traveled from Seattle to Paso Robles to dine at Chef Ian’s restaurant and it was worth the trip down the coast. He expertly paired wines with a very tasty meal from start to finish. So many amazing flavors. This was an opportunity for us to taste wines we have never had. Highly recommend. We will return for some of the other events Ian does!

Ian is amazing. He obviously knows his wines. His food is delicious but the way he prepares his food is truly amazing. Pay attention when he describes his food prep. It’s awesome.

We visited Paso Robles for our 21st anniversary and one of our nights was spent with Chef Ian at Somm’s Kitchen. Its a reservation based dining experience and it did not disappoint. Let me start by saying Chef Ian was very responsive when we emailed him to let him know we may be late do to severe weather and he was very gracious and let us know if we were later then expected he would figure something out for us. Thankfully we were just a few minutes late so all was well. When you arrive the entrance is a nondescript tinted door that leads right into the dining area. Everyone is seated at a crescent shaped bar top with I believe about 14 settings. (If you are uncomfortable being in very close proximity to strangers keep that in mind because it was definitely an intimate set up) that being said both parties on either side of us were lovely. Every dish placed in front of us came was served simply and for us as a couple to share. Our favorites were the charred fromage ravioli and the tomatoes that took him a week to prepare and were a stand out even to my husband who doesn’t even like tomatoes. We enjoyed all our dishes but the real highlight of the evening was the wine and champagne pairings that came with each dish. We are definitely not anywhere near experts when it comes to the ins and outs of wines and the rabbit hole wine can be. We know what we like and we know what we don’t. This was why we enjoyed this experience so much, Chef Ian had a wonderful way of explaining why he chose certain pairings and what made each wine unique including the processes of how the wine was made to an extent. We appreciated that he served wines that wouldn’t normally be available to most and others that you could get in a local vineyard. It’s obvious Chef Ian has a passion for entertaining and teaching with food, wine (especially wine) and sharing so others can enjoy them as much as he does. We will definitely be visiting again.

I’ve been twice with my husband. First for our anniversary and again 6 weeks later to bring family last night. Ian and his staff are absolutely amazing and very welcoming. The food is inventive and delicious, but not stuffy. Ian’s explanations of the food and wine are fascinating and down to earth. He is more than happy to try to accommodate allergies and preference (my husband isnt big on seafood). If you like good food and wine then hands down this is an experience that should not be missed whether you’re visiting or a local like us. There’s no set menu to allow room for new experiments and to vary based on seasonal ingredients. Be sure to plan ahead as he books up!

We had a fantastic time dining at Somm’s Kitchen run by the multitalented Ian. Conceptually the experience is a surprise tasting menu supercharged with trophy wines and liquors. This all takes place at a 12 seat curved bar where you can see Ian assemble each menu item. Ian slow prepares the items in advance using slow cooking, curing, sous vide, etc. and then finishes the dishes in front of you. The food is great but then he uses his sommelier background to pair wines and in our case bourbons with each course. And not just any wines or bourbons, Ian is looking to take the mystique out of the trophy or cult brands (like Bryant Family, Saxum, Sine Qua Non, Stagg) and happily pours these to get diner reactions. The result by the end of the night will leave you in a state of rapture and eager to plan your next visit.

I’m still on the fence on this one. On one hand I had a great experience wine tasting. Food was tasty but left me quite hungry. Had to go eat a real meal afterwards.
