The food here is very delicious. Lots of flavor with mild heat. I love the rice. The Samosa is really yummy. The coffee is very different. They put ginger in their coffee and it makes it spicy. It’s all good. Service is a little slow, but the restaurant is still new. East African cuisine.

Let’s start with what matters most: the food. Everything we had was great. We were greeted by a simple salad with an amazing dressing. It was a spicy affair with an amazing citrus and cilantro flavor. We were supplied with a pitcher of a pineapple beverage that had hints of coconut and lots of flavor. Then the main dish… I got lamb, amazing, falling-off-the-bone lamb with a wonderful rice and vegetable medley. They brought more of the same dressing as on the salads to mix with the rice. Do that. Don’t think about it, just do it. My wife got a great chicken wrap that also had a flavorful and unique sauce. For dessert: bananas. Yeah, really.

The best food i have ever eaten in portland oregon. One of the best customer service. The chef/cook Aisha was soo friendly and hospital. It is a family run business who go above and beyond to please their customers. Not to mention the food superb.

Friendly people and very good food! We went too early for some of the slow cooked dishes to be ready but had a delicious lamb shank and a stewed beef breakfast for a good price. They were kind enough to teach us how to brew up their awesome Somali tea at home and gave us a little of their hot sauce to go!

This place is great! My friend and I did the walking course up the road and wanted to try a place nearby; I had YELP’d this place and read the reviews; it sounded intriguing. It was/is! She had the lamb dish and there was SO MUCH MEAT! Plus the sides, and it was all delish! I had the chicken shawarma and it was also really tasty – and huge. (We each brought half of our meals home…) My friend had the Somali tea and I had the Somali coffee and they were both so delicious! The coffee has ginger, sugar, cinnamon and I’m not sure what else was in there but it was really good – and $2!!! The young man who served us (and took our order) was only a kid – he’s entering David Douglas as a freshman soon – and he was really sweet and accommodating. It was a really cool place with very good food – maybe I should give it 5 stars!?

Hands down the best sambusas in Portland. Friendly service. Very clean and welcoming. The portion size was perfect and the goat was tender and flavorful. I will definitely be back.

I visited these guys on their first day. Lovely food. They are still settling in, and they will be opening a grocery store that will be attached to the restaurant.
