Don’t judge a book by its cover, this applies to this restaurant, they don’t have fancy renovation but they do use quality food material, I can tell because I traveled around the country to do work with my camper van I sure eat a lot of take out foods.

Ignore the reviews of the elitist snobs that unfortunately come along with the restaurant being located where it is. We’ve been customers of this place for over 10 years and refuse to go to any other Chinese restaurant in the immediate DE/PA area. This place is simply great. Affordable, expected quality for the price. The family that owns the place is always so kind and thankful for choosing them to dine with. They’ve never not accommodated a request, and have never made a mistake on our orders. Only once was my order not ready on time, and I was apologized to multiple times when it happened. Love this place and will continue to visit for years to come!

The egg drop soup was terrific, the roasted pork with mixed vegetables was good, Wonton and hot and sour soup were ok, The beef with garlic sauce was inedible! Every piece of beef was gristly and rubbery and the chicken on a stick was fatty and a weird texture. Consequently we threw half of our food out and wasted almost $40.

Best Chinese in Hockessin by far! Sometimes a little hard to get through on the phone but worth the wait. Kitchen is exposed so you can see they are hygienic. Family operated and their kids run the counter. Great taste and always fresh!

Food is great, the prices are contingent with other Chinese restaurants in the area, plus side they deliver. Thank you for our dinners the past couple of nights. We just moved to the area, so we have been eat out breakfast, lunch and dinner, until we get settled and food in our house.

If I could give it less l would. It shocks me to see that anyone could find their food edible, let alone good. I won’t discuss each dish I have tried, except their wonton soup that comes with wontons in a dark liquid, smells and isn’t edible. I tried their food several times to give them a chance, however, each time it gets worse. Last evening it was horrible, I ordered simple dishes, even those were like no other Chinese food I’ve eaten…..and I don’t mean in a good way. Their food always has a strange order. Several of us became ill as soon as we ate, it felt like a MSG reaction. I wish you luck and best wishes if you go there. I won’t be back, I recycled their menu.

I’m surprised at the positive reviews. This is some of the worst Chinese food I’ve had. It was completely bland and not worth the calories. The sweet and sour chicken is tasteless puffy fried chicken dipped in orange sweet sauce over white rice. Crab rangoons are an unusual triangle instead of little packages but the filling is just cream cheese without flavor or crab. My husband’s mu shu pork was runny and strange but the best dish of the night. Lo mein was ok but nondescript. Not to mention that the food was 20 minutes later than expected and my husband had to stand in their *non-air conditioned restaurant* on a 100 degree day. I was hoping to find a hidden gem of a restaurant but this one should just stay hidden.

I generally don’t write reviews; but this was our first experience with this Chinese restaurant and it was extremely poor service. We ordered our food at 5:52pm, I received a phone call at 6:08pm that it would take longer than expected and we should look to wait an hour. I stated that that was no big deal and that we would wait. At 7:24pm I called, they said it would be another 30 minutes. Again, I stated that would be ok. After 40 minutes, we still had not received our food. I called again and they said oh we will start making it now, but it will be another 30-40minutes. Needless to say, I canceled the order and will never order from here again. 2 + hours for a small order of Chinese food is ridiculous. It’s a shame, bc we were looking for a new Chinese restaurant, but it won’t be Golden City.
