literally the food here is the BEST chinese food i’ve ever had, 4 stars though because the customer service is iffy, my waitresses are always kind but the to go people are sometimes off putting and sometimes the waitresses don’t put the food in correctly. I dined in before and ordered general tsos and wanted to substitute the rice for lo mein and they charged me 10 extra dollars for a whole plate of lo mein when the menu says “substitute fried rice for lo mein $2.50”, i let it slide that time though since it was my first time.

Swen was my go-to spot in Tuscaloosa when I was there for undergrad! Their lunch specials are probably the best deal in town. After moving away, my wife and I still find ourselves craving their hot and sour soup and xiang la chicken! We highly, highly recommend Swen and miss it all the time!

Basically a great place to get a reasonably priced meal of American chinese Food. Probably the best in Tuscaloosa for that. The service is always quick. The menu is varied, and all the items taste well made. The location is a bit old and could use some work.

The hot and spicy soup was AMAZING!! Everything else I got (egg rolls, crab wontons, and sesame chicken) was mediocre at best. The egg rolls had so much cabbage it tasted like coleslaw, crab wontons had one very tiny piece of crab in each one and sesame chicken had more breading that actual chicken. It reminded me of chicken nuggets.

Still one of the best places to get a delicious meal for under $8!!! The broad selection of Chinese cuisine is outstanding! I had Shrimp with Broccoli, Egg Drop Soup, Egg Roll, and Fried Rice. The meals are accompanied by noodle chips and the traditional Fortune Cookie. The food was excellent, and served quickly! I highly recommend!

The atmosphere was good. The food however was not upto the mark. The Singapore Mei fun had raw turmeric and curry powder sprinkled over the noodles instead of tossed in. The General Tso s chicken was incredibly sweet. The only dish that was a little better was Mandarin chicken. It had a wonderful garlic sauce. Overall the food experience was very average.

Even though the food at this location is better than the Northport location, and the Japanese lady who works here is excellent, I don’t think I will be coming back here. I have had multiple incidents where they have overcharged me or charged me for the wrong food, and every time they act like they did nothing wrong and don’t really want to give you a refund. After much arguing finally I got the incidents resolved, but the most recent interaction I had has left me thinking that I can no longer support this business. The students who work here don’t know anything and typically have an attitude of “I don’t care” in any interaction. They need to train their workers better on how to show customer service and how to interact the people. How they take payment is also very unorganized which is why I think refunds can be such a pain here.
