I was in town for a work trip when I stumbled upon Portofino Italian Kitchen, and let me tell you, it was an absolute gem! This place has hands down the most delicious Italian cuisine I’ve ever had in my life. From the moment I walked in, the whole experience was simply delightful – the service was top-notch, the drinks were fantastic, and the food was out of this world.

My only complaint about this restaurant is the damp smell upon entering – very strong and was a bad first impression for us. Otherwise, the service and food are fantastic. I would rank Portofino above any of the Italian restaurants in NMB. Quite a few choices for dinner, very flavorful and they have a wide assortment of desserts in a display case near the entrance.

What a hidden gem! From the call to make a reservation, the greeting when we arrived , the server and all the way to the farewell as we left! The food was phenomenal, fresh, delicious and homemade! I was glad I chose this place and enjoyed every minute! Thanks for making our trip great!

Had an amazing date night at Portofino Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar! Cozy atmosphere, convenient parking, excellent service, and the food was to die for! Bonus, they take reservations! Check them out, you won’t be disappointed!

Joe did a great job with service. The atmosphere is nice except that the noise could be muted somewhat with the addition of rugs and/or fabric on the walls. The cocktails were delicious, & the meatballs and the marinara sauce were very good. We got an extra ramekin of marinara and enjoyed that with them. The chicken in the chicken parm was pounded/sliced extremely thin so that overcooking it is easy. Ours was unfortunately overcooked and difficult to cut.

What a lovely evening we spent at Portofino. The ambiance is very cozy and we have been kindly welcomed by the owners Ilma and Giovanni. The waiter Nick has also been fantastic the entire time, very polite and explaining in detail the menu.

Specialized in authentic northern Italian cuisine with excellent customer service. The MUSSELS PORTOFINO was so fresh and flavorful, the SHORT RIBS was tender and juicy with perfectly tasty and textured risotto and broccolini. You get the quality of fine dining with a reasonable price. Highly recommended for Italian Food lovers.

Portofino is outstanding, the best Italian on the Grand Strand, we’ve been to many that are good, this restaurant is great. Starting with the cocktails which were delicious, the wine recommendation was excellent. We started with a tomato basil soup which was a perfect balance of creamy and flavorful. Next I had the shrimp cicio e pepe, it was prepared perfectly, the shrimp were large as was the overall serving size. We will definitely return, this is our go-to Italian restoration.
