This place has been on my radar for some time but I just hadn’t made the time to get here. When my daughter ate here and had a nice experience I made a point of getting in. The restaurant is clean and has a nice German vibe to it. The staff is wonderful and Elena is a gem! To start my partner had the salad and I had the pretzel with bacon/ cheese sauce. The salad was so fresh and the pretzel was exactly what I was looking for. But.. The cheese sauce was the topper, I can not express how wonderful it was! Simply a must get every time. We both ordered schnitzel, mine was with fries and lingonberry sauce. My partner got the mushroom sauce and sauerkraut. Both were amazing and the fries were particularly wonderful. If you are like I was, curious but not here yet, get off the fence! This restaurant is amazing!

Really good food. Large portions. I can’t wait for winter so I can visit here frequently and get super fat… i mean, insulated…

Our first time here. We’ve been wanting to experience “real” German food ever since our trip to Leavenworth. We’d say the food was pretty tasty. We loved the sauce sampler for our chicken schnitzel & the bacon cheese dip and pretzel was super delish. I’d say it might be a little overpriced for the picnic table seating and overall atmosphere. The service was good and we look forward to going again sometime.

Sehr gut!! In English, this translates to very good! The old saying “they treat you like family” is so overused these days that even as I type this, I hesitate. But there is really no better way to describe the feeling that Lorie and I felt dining here. Upon arrival, we were greeted by manager Isaiah, who was beyond cordial and very friendly. Owner Elena Hughes introduced herself at our table and was absolutely spilling over with not only pride but a great personality as well.

This is one of our favorite Boise restaurants. Portions are generous, and both main dishes and sides are authentic and totally delicious. Don’t miss the schnitzel – cooked crisp and served with great sauces. Also save some room for the German cheesecake or Apple strudel!

Richard provided the most friendly and welcoming experience! Out of the many, many restaurants my wife and I have been to, this has been one of the most cozy and delightful experiences we’ve had. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with lovely German tapestries, posters, and artwork. The whole place feels very authentic, I enjoyed the music as well because you don’t get the chance to hear German music very often which was an excellent touch. Next, the beer and wine selection was unique in the best way. With fantastic imported beverages. I would recommend the hefweisen, sizes start at .5 litres and range up to a 2.0 litre boot. And now the food, it was amazing! Authentic with unique twists that made for an amazing meal. I had the schnitzel with dark beer gravy and mashed potatoes and it was amazing! The meat was well seasoned and tender with a crisp breading with a wonderfully tasty gravy. The cheese and bacon spatzle was exceptional as well. Lastly, we shared the German chocolate cake which was definitely enough for 2 and perfectly tipped off our meal. The Schnitzel Garten has made our favorites list and we will definitely be back for more, again and again!
