Somac Korean Fusion Bar & Grill Menu – Chantilly, VA

Type : Korean restaurant

Location : Chantilly, VA

While a glass of vodka is a means of socializing with Russians, “somac,” a mixture of beer and soju, is ever-present at most dinners with Korean businessmen. Gone are the days when Koreans mixed beer with whiskey, as soju, a clear Korean liquor similar to vodka, is much milder and cheaper and the choice of the masses.

Based on 254 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.1 stars. Price $$

Vegetarians and Korean cuisine don’t often mix well. But Somac has it covered. With tofu alternatives to most dishes and a clear respect for Western vs Asian definitions of what vegetarianism means, you will feel right at home. Even our picky eaters enjoyed their meal. Those who were wary of the spiciness were pleasantly surprised as well. And the kimchi? Don’t get me started!

I ordered Gungjung Tteobokki from somac for takeout which is marketed as rice cakes with a Bulgogi. However, when I opened my container, it only included two pieces of Bulgogi throughout the whole dish. I am very disappointed and will not be coming back.

Tucked away in a small plaza in South Riding, but what an amazing place to eat a distinctively unique kind of Korean style fried chicken.

Korean food of good traditional quality, very good flavor and balance and highly recommend the rice balls, tray the traditional style pork belly with rice, lettuce and sauces, the cold soup is something different that you should not miss out experiencing. Affordable prices. It is definitely to visit more than one.

We’re in the mood for some bibimbap, thank goodness there’s Somac only 20 minutes away. The setting is very casual. We couldn’t sit at the booth since it’s only 2 of us which was unfortunate but I understand. I got the tofu stew with seafood and my husband got the dolsot bibimbap. Both food were delicious and fresh. The hot stone bowl kept the food hot, might be even too hot and it took a while to cool down. If you’re starving maybe don’t order food served in the stone bowl. My stew came with generous portion of rice and side dishes. The side dishes also tasted fresh and delicious. Service was good. It’s located in a plaza so there were plenty of parking spots. We really enjoyed this place and would come back in the future to try more stuff

Update: their chicken used to be good but not anymore… they charge $1 per to go box without telling you… that’s pretty messed up… probably not go back here anymore.
