My family and I recently wanted to go out to celebrate a special occasion. The weather was nice so we decided to go somewhere where we could eat outside on a patio. We decided to head to La Centerra at Cinco Ranch and walk around until wee saw a place that caught our eye. Half Shells had a nice open patio facing a green space which was great for getting a breeze and people watching. We decided to give them a try and were very glad we did. The atmosphere, service, and food were all excellent! Its a little pricy – but keep your eyes open as Half Shells sends out coupons in local mailers from times to times (we actually had a $10 off coupon). I can’t say enough about the service we received from our waiter Kyle! He was awesome – very nice, checked on us often, offered us a small sampler since it was our first trip, and made some menu recommendations that we took his advice on – that were excellent!! He recommended the Lobster and Shrimp Grilled Cheese – which honestly is one of the best seafood sandwiches I have ever had! We also had the fish tacos, and grilled fish sandwich which were also very good…but the star of the night was the Lobster and Shrimp Grilled Cheese!!! Kyle’s awesome service alone made the visit worth while, but the food was also worth the price I thought. My only issue with our trip was that in the green space we were facing a kid was blowing bubbles that were blowing directly onto the patio. At first it didn’t seem like a big deal – but after a few bubbles hitting us and our food it was a little annoying (not the restaurants fault I guess since it wasn’t on their property). Give this place a try – ask for Kyle as your waiter, and try the seafood grilled cheese – you won’t bee disappointed!

This was my first time at Half Shells. I was very pleasantly surprised and I plan to return. My waiter, Kyle was very engaging. I tried a soup sampler and all of them were great. I had fried catfish and shrimp with a side salad and fries. It was all great. The food was all hot when it arrived. I would say cooked to perfection. Much better than the former Fish City Grill. I thought the price point was very fair for the quality of food that was served.

Their customer service, food taste and food portions do not match their pricing. Not impressed. Waited to be served forever while servers were by what looks like the kitchen area conversing. It’s a NO for me. Well, onto the next 3,400th restaurant in Houston/Katy/Spring/Sugarland/Woodlands and the endless list goes on . PS…Pictures are of the Gumbo and that size is the bowl. Yep, best believe it!!!

One of the best meals I’ve had. Split 4 pounds of crawfish, dozen oysters, and the shrimp tacos with my wife. All were excellent. Crawfish fresh and meaty.

This was our first time eating here. The atmosphere was great in the food was excellent. Everything came out hot and our waitress (Noor) was especially attentive. She even brought us out samples but some of the foods we were going to order. Thank you Noor for making our first experience with Half Shells a great one. We will definitely be back.

Food and service was horrible. My bacon burger was gross and undercooked. The server recommended I try the chicken sandwich, it was horrible. The server said they fry everything together so the chicken sandwich tasted like fish. I don’t eat fish. It took the server 15 min to bring the check and she seemed annoyed with us. I won’t be back.

I visited for dinner on a Friday night with a bunch of friends and loved the whole experience. The food was delicious and the portion size was appropriate. We tried smokin hot shrimp and shrimp and crab queso for appetizers. Both were amazing. The portion size of smokin hot shrimp is good for one or two people if you are ordering other appetizers. For drinks we tried watermelon margarita, moscow mule and Bloody Mary. Watermelon margarita was good but the other two drinks were average. For the main course definitely recommend shrimp and crab stuffed flounder. Perfect balance of all the flavors. A very delicate dish. Shrimp and grits was good but I have had better shrimp and grits at other places. Another dish that I highly recommend is Seared Georges Bank Scallops & Applewood Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. The scallops were done just right, it cut like butter. I substituted rice with asparagus. Definitely recommend this place. Only caveat they don’t take reservations so try to go early. It’s not a huge place and was crowded. Service was very good.
