We visited Walnut Grill Ballantyne on a Saturday night. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, who indicated the kitchen was working through some issues and the speed of food might not be up to there desired standards. We were not in a hurry and it would not be an issue for us. Once we were seated our waiter, Christian, was quick to greet us and take our order. He didn’t write anything down, but nailed the order. One of the items he recommended was the fried cauliflower. I think the kids would say it was bussin’, which translated means delicious. Honestly, everyone should order that dish….amazing. We also had two salads, the Strawberry Balsamic and Walnut goat cheese and pear, not the official names on the menu but you will be able to figure out the ones I am talking about. They were so very good. My wife and I took bites of everything and I decided I wanted to take pics to post a review. So the pictures already have at least two bites out of each. The food didn’t take long at all to reach our table. Great food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks for a great evening!

This was our first visit to Walnut Grill. As Pittsburgh natives, we were so exited to try it, and we weren’t disappointed. The Pittsburgh salad was fabulous. I haven’t found anything close to this since we moved to Charlotte. My husband had the prime rib sandwich. He said it was delicious. We can’t wait to bring our kids here the next time. Our server Jacola was very attentive, and she let me see a copy of their kids menu.

Food was meh, service was slow and unhelpful. We waited 45 minutes for a sandwich and a flatbread pizza that my wife barely ate because it was so soggy. Ask my waiter for a box he never brought so I had to ask another server instead. As former servers we understand times can get difficult but he only had one other table that he was also mostly ignoring. Never returning, for sure.

Our family of 4 had dinner here, and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was really good. The burgers were seasoned really well, and the fries were great! The dry ranch seasoned wings were my favorite! The host and server were both pleasant and friendly. We got really good food, good service (the food did take a longer but it wasn’t a big deal), the price was great as well! Would definitely recommend this place.

Just opened a week or so ago. They had loud ‘background’ music that was finally turned down later…greeted by staff around 5 minutes after seating. Young and inexperienced waiter but wanted to help. Food was actually really good. Seem to make things in house. It’s a nice restaurant but lacks identity and the details of a great restaurant. My old fashioned drink was served with the ice on top of the fruit and drink if that tells you anything…and it was just a shot of bourbon. Nothing else. The bar definitely needs help and experience. Menu diverse but not too crowded.

It took a long time to get our food, and most of it was cold. Three of the five orders came with at least one wrong item. When the server brought my daughter’s order he called the wrong food name, which prompted no one to accept it, and minutes later, when the waitress came down to deconflict the order and finally bought it back out again, her food was cold. The place is cool, the food is not bad, but they need to get their kitchen right.

Let’s start with the positives. Food was delicious, portions ample, and environment clean. The restaurant that was previously there is deeply missed.

I ate dinner at the Walnut Grill in Ballantyne on Thursday night. They just opened a few weeks ago. My date and I sat outside on their patio. On Thursdays, it is half-price martini night. This made me happy, as I love martinis. I tried their Cucumber-Tini, and it was so good and refreshing. It took me a while to figure out what to order as they have so many choices. I went with the healthy option of the Strawberry Balsamico salad, with chicken. It was very tasty. I was impressed with the Walnut Grill, and I look forward to coming back soon.
