My husband and I visited The Bayou Kitchen and Lounge on Sunday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Sometimes when the atmosphere and the people are great we’ll come back to a restaurant even if the food isn’t all that. However, on this occasion, the food was just the icing on the cake. My husband really enjoyed the shrimp and ended up ordering a second serving. He also had red beans and rice and the jambalaya. Of course, he had to bring some home since he wanted to try different things. It was all very good. I had to jambalaya with pasta, which I never had, and it ended up being very tasty. We also had the key lime pie, which was from a local bakery and very good and unique. The staff was so exceptionally nice. The chef sat down with us to receive some compliments from my husband. The waitress was very accommodating and friendly. As well as the other waitress who wasn’t even waiting on us. It was a nice Sunday afternoon.

What can I say but the fact that this place is amazing. From the moment you enter and hear the music, it sets the ambiance as if you were on Bourbon St in a Jazz Club. Let’s not forget the aromas that came linger slowly from the kitchen as in enticing you with a plethora of flavors at ready for you to dive in. I can say the Hurricanes mixed by Victoria go down so smoothly and the food tantalizing. I have now had multiple things on the menu, and my favorite is something so simple as there red beans and rice. It made a fan instantly. I will continue to come and enjoy every succulent bite. Come see Chef Eddie and his partners. You will not regret it!

Nothing less than excellent!! The food, flavor omg!!! This is definitely NOLA flavored. Staff is friendly, prices are good, restaurant is clean and food is out in 15-20 max! Gumbo is to die for but I would like more on the portion side of that . Other than that, I definitely received authentic Cajun New Orleans food.

By far, the best New Orleans inspired food this side of the Mississippi! I wanted to order everything. We came here for Father’s Day lunch and despite being busy, they accommodated us with exceptional service. Mel was our waitress and took great care of our needs. We enjoyed Charbroiled Oysters, the fabulous Brisket & Grits, the Cajun Rice, Crawfish Ettoufee with Catfish, Crawfish Po Boy, Nola Rollovers, Beignets, and you gotta have the Drunken Bread Pudding!!!! Because you have to have Gumbo. We took some home and it hit the spot! There was literally not a bad dish we tasted!!! We drove from Tampa and would definitely take the drive to come back

This hidden gem was really good a spin on Cajun cuisine with a mix of traditional Cajun meals like red beans and rice, gumbo and po’ boys. My husband had a surprising low country/ Cajun fusion dish of jerk chicken and waffles which he really liked. I had the shrimp and grits with the sauce on the side. Both were really good. The beignets were phenomenal I could have eaten a million a them! They were delish! Can’t wait to try it again. Great place for a date night.

Out-Standing! On our way into The Back Porch we noticed a sign for The Bayou. Decided to investigate and we’re rewarded with a fantastic experience. My wife ordered the half-dozen Charbroiled Oysters which were mouth watering and richly flavored and perfectly paired with a wonderfully crunchy and buttery garlic bread wedge. Before our entrees arrived we received two of the best corn fritters I’ve ever had! Crunchy melt in your mouth delights with a mildly spicy drizzle that was a very welcome surprise. My shrimp and grits came out piping hot (as did all of our food) and was a delicious mix of seasoning on the shrimp and in the grits. Bacon, cheese and measured amount of sauce to finish it. My wife was served the Jumbalaya and she was thrilled with all the bits of yum. Bignets were exactly as you want them, hot, flaky and covered with powdered sugar. The decor is very tasteful and the music selection is ONNNNNNN POINT. Not too loud. Not too soft. You can tell everything here is made fresh in the kitchen by a chef that knows his stuff. Congrats to the owners, you have a real winner here! (Note: the restaurant has a colored lighting scheme so some of the photos are tinted with the theme lighting)

In short, this is a new restaurant that opened too soon. They do not have a liquor license yet, and even the non-alcoholic drinks are limited (no sweet tea as of the time of this writing). I ordered the jambalaya, which was presented nicely but tasted dry. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits, which was very good. However, both dishes are a far cry from Tibby’s. There are 3 beignets in an order, which doesn’t follow the “Cafe DuMonde” standard, and they were not as good as anticipated. The atmosphere is “new” with not much on the walls besides the TV screens. Overall, I would wait for the place to become more “seasoned” before returning.

Wow wow wow. I just went to a soft opening of The Bayou Kitchen and Lounge right down the street from me on Wekiva Springs Road in Longwood and I was blown away. The Jambalaya was the best I ever had and the to die for Beignets is like having Cafe Du Monde in my neighborhood. Chef is from New Orleans and is working off 75 year old family recipes. Support this gem of a place at all costs. Full menu is available starting this Friday.
