With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006.
Chain with gourmet beef, turkey & vegan burgers, plus spiked shakes. Some locations have game meats. Based on 4 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.4 stars. Price $$

The atmosphere is nice. It is dim as there are no windows. The All American burger was good and so were the fries. The tootsies hot chicken was ok not hot, small for the price. My experience here was ok. It’s pricey for the portions. You have to purchase everything separately. The total for a burger meal with a drink will run you over $15 and up.

Decent food, big portions. Would rather that they used cheese sauce than the melted shredded cheese on the fries. They cooled quickly and became one with each other. Lots of fans on the ceiling running at full speed to keep you cool when it’s hot out. Neat decor with repurposed beer kegs as bar stools or wall decor. The bathrooms have Chuck Norris jokes that never fail to get a chuckle out of me.

I had the Big Tex Burger. Excellent blend of flavors. My husband had the classic and we shared the cheese fries. Enjoyed the decor.

The first time here went because I looked it up. Restaurants close to me, and this one popped up. Decided to give it a shot! It was Meh…for the prices you expect more and for the presintation wasn’t that great. Ordered fried green beans/fried carrots, and I’m like ok where are the carrots? If you see the dish, your luck if you see 4 strips, the rest greenbeans. burger, I expected more since it said BIG TEX well nothing big abt it the ingredients was very shysty no Avocado or guacamole. It was not fully cooked, so it was meh. For the price, it is $11.50. Trust me, it’s not worth it at all just for a burger and no sides. Wow. Trust me, it’s not worth it. The All American was just boring, but I wasn’t a fan. Interesting the pickle barrels they had was ok. Now the soft drinks they should have traditional Pop Soda coca cola, dr. Pepper, etc. Because these soft drinks they carry are just boring and not tasty. You all need to clean the coke machines where the dispenser is you must clean and take gunk out. Maybe your sodas may taste a bit better, but you should have traditional ones. So will I come back No, yall gotta fix either the crazy high prices or put what it’s to be and make it taste good and like when it says Avocado Put SOME sheesh not a wipe off the knife. And your onion rings make sure its Onion and not just fried skin.

This place is super dope. I was on my way back to Austin and randomly found this place. The atmosphere is super chill and laid back. They have big projectors playing different things. I like the artwork as well. I sat at the bar and was able to order everything from there instead of getting in line. The bartender was amazing I ordered the tiki Rita I really enjoyed it. It’s sweet and a little tart. I also ordered the cheese fries no bacon. The fries are cut thicc and seasoned well they also put copious amounts of cheese. It’s so good but so greasy! I had the vegan burger the patty is a house made black bean quinoa mix. I found that it was quite good. I did have a few issues with it. The patty was too big for the bun so I had to cut a chunk off so it would fit on the bun properly. I also think they went a little bit heavy on the beans maybe add a bit more quinoa. Overall I do recommend this place and if I’m back in Waco I will definitely be back!

The building caught our eye on the highway. We decided to stop on our way out of town. The atmosphere is amazing! The have a pickle barrel bar with all the pickle slices you need. I don’t know how they managed it but they also have a unicorn and giraffe head mounted. The food it’s self was amazing! The burgers had a lot of flavor, the kids chicken strips were juicy and the cheese fries were plentiful.

The chicken sandwich was pretty good! The western was meh. I liked the building! Fun place to eat. It was a little dark for my liking but enjoyable none the less . We wanted a float but I guess the machine was broken
