This is very hard for me to write as I usually do not leave a review unless I can leave a positive five star review. However, what happened needs to be said. I’ve been a resident of Morro Bay for over 17 years. Never, have I been treated the way I was in a business before. My sisters were here from out of state on a sister trip. I took them to Gilligan’s for a sandwich. My sister ordered a vegetarian sandwich. After waiting 15 minutes, and that is no joke, get it, it finally arrived. My sister, halfway through half of the sandwich realized it did not have avocado on it. So, I took it to, the counter, there were three women working. After about five minutes of standing at the counter, the girl taking orders, asked what I needed. I proceeded to tell her that the sandwich had no avocado on it. She told me it would take a while before they could do anything about it. So I requested my money back. Five more minutes waiting at the counter, she finally looked at me and said, what do you want me to do and I said, can we just get my money back. She went back and told the lady, about three minutes later the lady came out angry! She asked me what I wanted. I told her again for the second time, what I wanted. She opened of the sandwich, ran her finger through the sandwich mind you no glove, and told me there was plenty of avocado wrapped it up and pushed it back at me. She then started to walk away. I said to her, ma’am I am not going to eat a sandwich after you just rubbed your finger through it. She yelled with the place full of people waiting for their food and said too bad. I said please just give me my money back. At which time she open the register, threw six dollars at me ( the sandwich cost $12 but because 1/2 was eaten that was fine) then started yelling that, that was all I wanted. I was appalled , turned to her and told her I would not tell anyone about her restaurant, nor would I be back. As I’m walking out the door, still yelling, she’s telling the whole entire restaurant all I wanted was my money back. I have never in 17 years of living in Morro Bay been treated this way. To think none of this would’ve happened had she just treated the buying customer with respect. On top of it all, she was the owner. I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. Never, never have I seen anyone treat customers the way this place did. Like I said, I don’t like leaving reviews that aren’t five stars. If I can’t leave something positive. I won’t leave anything at all. But this needs to be exposed.

I’ve tried this place out a couple of times. I like the sandwiches. I don’t understand why they don’t have themed sandwiches. To go with the name. I also don’t understand why the fountain drinks take so long to get. I’m sure it will improve with time. The sandwiches are good.

Food is good. Service is hit or miss. They have the “tip” screen and I noticed when I don’t tip (or tip cash) they are not as friendly. That’s messed up.

We were in town for the trunk or treat event and I was craving a good sandwich. We thought we would check out this fairly new spot. Very glad we did. I had the turkey melt and my grandson had the ham and cheese melt and they were both awesome. My boyfriend had the club sub. The place was bright and clean. Support our new businesses. Being a new business is not easy. We will be back.

I ordered a custom sandwich the way I like it. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I got a to go order with a short wait. I was out the door with a tasty lunch. If you love sandwiches and great soups then this is the place for you. It’s located next to the Bay theater in Morro Bay.

My first time experience didn’t go so well I was expecting a great sandwich and it turned out to be not a good idea I got ill after eating the bread is baked “fresh” everyday. Called the next day when I felt better and they didn’t care or seemed concerned saying they needed more complaints not offering to at least to try again. One of the worst customer

What a wonderful addition to Morro Bay!! I finally visited Gilligan’s yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at the quality food and service. There is no question, I will become a regular. It’s a sure “bell ringer”!!!!!

Good sandwich but unfortunately they didn’t put everything i asked for in the sandwich. They make them inside so you don’t get a chance to check on what they have added to the sandwich, they do take a list but it seemed like the items I have asked for were not added.

Sandwiches were pretty good. The tuna melt wasn’t melted enough and still cold on the inside. The pastrami was tasty but both would have benefited from a flavorful sauce, like thousand island or similar.
