Food: 3/5 (great tips with smoke, just sat out too long)

I’m pretty picky about BBQ, having lived in North Carolina and Texas for much of my life. As such, I generally keep my expectations low when trying a BBQ joint for the first time. I ordered four ribs, envisioning having them as an appetizer before dinner. When I opened the container, I was very surprised by the size of the serving. The smell was fantastic, and the meat fell off the bone tender. These are the best ribs I’ve had since moving north! I highly recommend trying Pat’s and bring an appetite!

These reviews are deceiving!! It took not 1, not 2, but THREE times before my order was correct.

I got the 1lb of rib tips and the brisket. The brisket was so dry. The rib tips taste burnt. I thought my rib tips that I ordered just taste burnt but my son said his taste burnt as well. And the mr. Brown brown bbq sauce that I choose was nasty. I won’t go back. The bbq is not worth it. Only thing I ordered good was the fries. And the banana pudding was okay at best. But nothing that will make me wanna drive and go get it. I can do without. That’s just how I feel. I won’t go back. I won’t recommend.

We came in for takeout last week after a family outing and decided on bbq. We decided to try this place because we pass it all the time. We got the wings, brisket sandwich a half rack of ribs, fries and baked beans. First and foremost the customer service was terrible. Never in my life have I ever experienced such rudeness. The ONLY part of the interaction where I felt she didn’t have an attitude is when she told me to have a great day. It was an awkward exchange in my opinion. Now to the food the wings were honestly to chewy for my kids liking. They did not want to finish eating the chicken. The brisket sandwich was dry. I don’t know if it was an over cooked batch or something but never again.

I dare you to find better bbq in the city! You don’t even need sauce like at some places. But all their sauces make whatever you put em on taste better. Mess with the Apple Chunky though. That chicken gumbo too though. I copped some cool swag from their website.

Good place for great food. Got the ribs and their fries for myself. Fries were a little too salty but the ribs were absolutely fantastic! Super tender, fall off the bone. And their house sauce was a perfect combination. Definitely would recommend. And worth wading through the crowds in the Public Market to get some food here.

The negative reviews seem to reflect the vibe one gets from the entitled suburban hoi polloi one regularly sees at the Milwaukee Public Market. This Black-owned business (the first at the Public Market) named after the owner’s mother serves truly excellent food. The rib tips, pulled pork, and fried okra were the best we’ve had outside the south in years. The homemade sauces are delicious. The owner is a very charming, welcoming proprietor. Highly recommended!

The vibe of Pat’s in Milwaukee Public Market is that of business, great food and soul. The smell hits your nose as soon as you enter the doors and the taste is worth the wait! The owners are present, personal and the staff compliments that same attention. BBQ with a Milwaukee flare and hometown celebrity, I’ll be back!
