Very quick service without compromise to the food quality. Birria tacos were soft and juicy. Fish tacos were a pass for me, weren’t quite as crispy as I had anticipated. Churros were fresh, hot and delicious! Great meal!

Stopped in Columbus because of bad weather while traveling from South Carolina to Michigan and my daughter looked up this restaurant while I was driving. The town was very busy being a Friday so we did have to wait about two hours for a table (I think they might take reservations so next time if it’s a planned trip that’s an easy fix), but that did let us go find a hotel and get checked in so it worked out well. They can text/call you when your table is ready so that is convenient. The food we had was well prepared and my daughters said that the flavor was very close to an authentic Mexican place they love to order from locally (I had to defer to them since I forgot that I don’t care for corn tortillas, although I really liked the barbacoa filling I had, but don’t want to let my dislike color the review of the taste of the food). We really wished we were able to try more items, unfortunately one of my daughters fell ill (completely unrelated to the restaurant) and we had to hurry and leave. I want to thank the waitress, she was very accommodating and stopped what she was doing and got a box and the check so I could take care of my child without delay. My daughter was so disappointed that we had to leave that she told me that next time we are in the area we must go back and really get the full experience.

So I am one of those foodies that likes authentic when it comes to ethnic foods, especially when it comes to Latin America cuisine. I also appreciate a nice atmosphere that has the right look, comfort, and service. This place offers both. The food is more fusion but keeps to the traditional sense. This meal was the Barbacoa burrito. It was very tasty. The bartender was at my attention before I even sat down. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend it. Even the owner hangs out in this joint.

I had been wanting to visit El Segundo for a while. I even planned on going with friends and family for my birthday dinner coming up in June. Last night I visited around 10pm having a seat at the end of the bar. There were only two other people seated at the time, and two bartenders. Neither bartender greeted me, in fact the guy nearest to me refused to acknowledge my presence. It was clear that I sat in his section of the bar. He ignored me for about ten minutes, by walking to the other end of the bar socializing with his coworker. He finally brought me a menu still without speaking to me. Then leaves the bar without taking my order. He was very rude and wanted to be obvious that he did not want to serve me (initially I thought he was either upset, that I am a woman, I’m Black or both). I felt the energy and chose to ignore it because this type of behavior is so common. I did consider leaving except it was late and raining so I chose to just deal with the uncomfortable feelings by making excuses for their disgusting behavior towards me. Eventually the other bartender reluctantly took my order. A short while after I received my food. Two white males came in and sat next to me, and in less than 60 seconds they were greeted and given menus. At this point I was set on believing that the bartenders were upset that I came in sorta close to closing time. So these two white men coming in at 10:30 and receiving the proper treatment was like a gut punch. I literally felt sick, I couldn’t even eat my food. Immediately I asked for the bill and when I signed it I wrote a note saying how poorly I was treated by the two staff members. My hand was shaking the entire time writing, trying to fight my emotions. There aren’t any reasons or excuses for treating people like they are less than human. It’s 2023 and I was made to feel like I had sat at the whites only counter. Reminding me that we are not as far removed as some would like to think.

Not impressed. Food had very very little flavor and was rather expensive. 4.50 for a single taco. Decided to get 4 tacos, 1 shrimp, 1 fish, 1 birria and 1 jackfruit. Jackfruit taco was interesting but dry, birria lacked flavor overall and had a huge piece of fat right in the middle of the taco, the fish in the fish taco was pretty good but the taco was dry and underwhelming and the same could be said for the shrimp. Drinks were not great either for the price, but were presented nicely. Server was nice but service was really slow and the restaurant was less than half full with at least 6 staff working. Save yourself some disappointment and cash and go to las tapitas birria on the west side of Columbus, they have amazing birria tacos and horchata, or El vaquero in Grove City which is always quick and the food has flavor and better value.

Went here for a quick dinner because I was starving after my flight to Columbus. Had a bar seat which is first come first serve.. Plenty of seating, but it was packed. So if you want a table in the weekend you’ll still need a reservation.
