The place was quite dirty upon arrival. There were some dead bugs on the floor too. There were no other customers there the entire time, so there was no excuse for how filthy it was. The waitress was new and inexperienced. Several things we ordered were unavailable because they were ruined in the freezer. There was a hint of mold on one of the buns, and on another, the meat was very dry. The only positive thing I can say is that the prices were cheap.

I wish somewhere on Google it would say that this place is not always opened. After reading their web page it says that they close the doors after they run out of food. I’m on a long drive and I wanted to hit up a local place to get some barbecue so this is what I decided. I arrived and the place is totally empty and doors are locked. I checked the hours but didn’t think to call ahead I guess maybe it’s on me. I’m giving it a three-star review for the benefit of the doubt I’m just bummed I can’t eat here. Just a suggestion but maybe put on the front door where your hours are “we close when we run out of food”

Just stopped in randomly with no recommendations but I will definitely be recommending this spot to others. Kaylie was an excellent server, the food was AMAZING, and the atmosphere was very welcoming<3 we had the Rib-eye Sandwich, Pork Macaroni, and Cheese Curds(great portioning)

Was traveling I-70 in search for a good BBQ place to stop. Definitely found it at Big Smoke Barbecue! The service was great, they greeted us and got our order quickly, food was out in about 5 minutes. The food was amazing! The brisket and burnt ends were melt-in-your-mouth and had good flavor to it even without the sauces they provided! The pork rinds were very fluffy and were a great way to sample the sauces too. We were able to take some leftovers to-go with us as we continued our road-trip, staff was very kind and offered extra pork rinds and drinks to-go so we had snacks for the road. Definitely worth the trip from the highway, very cute downtown location made it a wonder stop!

Too bad for Hays! Several things we ordered and the people around us they were out of. The food was room temperature at best. The taste was well below average. I won’t be back. Very disappointing to pay these prices and leave most of your food. Our kids wouldn’t even eat the Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. Save yourself the. stop! Not even worthy of 1 star.

So I’m driving across country from LA to Detroit and stopped by here. I am posting this after I’ve had bbq from some big places particularly, Pappys smokehouse in St Louis; a top rated bbq joint in the US. Not even from my opinion but make your own, Bog smoke’s brisket and burnt ends, slaughters the competition.
