This restaurant was a lifesaver; my family needed to eat dinner late, and we were let in to eat just 15 minutes before closing time. The restaurant didn’t rush us at all, they just wanted to make sure the staff left work on time; we’re so grateful for their kindness and welcoming attitude.

Terrible food!!!Anyone looking to have an awesome experience should just sacrifice the ability to sit down and go to Chopstix. The general taos has a ketchup based sauce unlike any other restaurant I’ve had to endure. The rice taste like unfiltered city water, lacking flavor and Yum Yum sauce, our only choice was to attempt to feed it to a dog. The best way to ruin a date is to take them to Peter Changs. I’m upset that I gave away money to throw away a meal.

Fabulous first visit to Peter Chang cafe! Was craving high quality upscale cuisine like chicken broccoli and it was so so good!! Jasmine Tea was a bit weak but very fragrant! Vegetables were perfectly cooked and meat extremely tender! Charged extra for carrots and rice but prices still fairly reasonable. Staff was very flexible and aware of food allergies and sensitivities we mentioned. Thoroughly enjoyed the delicate warming silky egg drop soup on a cold winter evening! They don’t offer fortune cookies which we would have enjoyed but meal was just great and we would definitely return!

My husband and I like the food here and the service is friendly and efficient by the wait staff. Our problem is with the shabbiness and tired appearance of the restaurant itself. We were seated in a booth and on the wall beside us were multiple splatters and stains from food that had been there for a long time. A good cleaning, painting, and refreshment of the dining room is definitely needed. A good dusting would go a long way, too, of the overhead decorations. The bathrooms could also use an overhaul. It’s hard to enjoy even good food when the surroundings are sub-standard. As much business as this restaurant has one would think that an update of the premises would not be beyond the means of the owner.

Horrible attitude. I walked in, not even a hello. Another man walks in and the front guy talks to him. The service guy completely ignores us and only talks if we ask him questions. Horrible service attitude. Didn’t cap a sauce properly and spilled it all over my food. He basically looked down on us because of how we looked. Horrible service. The manager shouldn’t be hiring people like him with horrible customer service.

Dry hotpot was great. Others were very plain. A little disappointed. Normally there should be good Chinese/Asian restaurants around university campus in today’s US. Probably here in Charlottesville, VA, there seemed not many Asian students.

I ordered the dry fried eggplant; usually a hit. Today it was overly breaded with a paucity if scallions. The $17.00 cauliflower hot pot consisted of blandly flavored cauliflower and maybe 1/8 cup of pork. A disappointing dish fed to the chickens.

Sad to say but delivery from Peter Changs was very disappointing. We’ve been once before and dine in was very good. It’s been a few years (cause of Covid) so we decided to try for new years 2022. It was super surprising that the food was bland. I mean everything…pork dumplings, golden chicken, fried rice, wonton soup, veggie Lomein all had no flavor. I’ll update and try again but after spending over $75, it’ll be awhile.

At first I didn’t even know this place existed but because of Peter Chang’s name I decided to try it. We ordered the scallion balloon breads, crazy beef with ghost chili, mapo tofu, and beef tendon & tripe with szechuan sauce. They were all very flavorful and tasty. As you can tell I love to eat thing spicy and these guys made it really well. I wish we could have ate the balloon breeds right away but because of pandemic it has to be take out for everyone’s safety. But the taste was still good although shape changed later due to it being in container. Overall I recommend them =)
