Found this gem on a business trip. Justin was absolutely amazing. He was very attentive and made sure everything was to good. My halibut was undercooked and he made sure the next one they brought out was good. It was good and very beautifully plated. The atmosphere is adorable. Definitely a piece of history. Very nice secluded areas to enjoy your meal. The chocolate torte for dessert was a flourless option and I thought it would have been so decadent and rich, i was wrong. It was still good just not anything to write home about. My overall experience was good. I would try it again if I was in the area.

Wow, great venue, great food, great service! We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner. Attentive service, delicious food, and the libations were pleasant. Enjoyed the Lobster Cobb salad, so much of a feast within the salad it was hard to finish and Hubby had steak added to his salad, special note, they include an entire steak, not just a few stingy slices of steak like many restaurants. Both salads were so good. The venue is beautiful with indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely worth a visit!!

The food was excellent and our waiter was amazing! It’s a little pricey but expected for the quality of the food. We had a group of 9 and shared appetizers, and each had a dinner. My daughter was excited there was steak on the kids menu, and she ate the 6 oz beauty cooked to medium rare perfection! Bon Appétit! Too full for dessert, unfortunately!

Great place for upscale dinning in downtown state college. There is a large selection of wine. The menu had the proper number of selections not overwhelming not too slim. The servers were very attentive. The price is comparable

This is not the same Tavern, same menu, prices as townies and alumni have come to expect over the years are gone. Food is very good, but pricey and upscale. Gone are the all you can eat favorites like the side dishes. Margaritas are $14 for a tequila shot but $1 more for the mix. If the weather is nice… eat outside, preferably in the front upstairs division of the restaurant. Rest of restaurant has a nice, modern yet nostalgic feel. More effort should be given for a flame in the fireplace at the Adams Apple, downstairs in the back in cold weather. There are now 2 bars… a revised Adams Apple and a new bar upstairs in front.

The Tavern has reopened and it is better than ever! We happened to be in State College on one of their openings nights and so we thought we would give The “new” Tavern a try. I don’t usually write reviews but The Tavern deserves to be recognized. It has a fresh new look that still maintains the traditions and nostalgia of the past. The Tavern’s updated menu has something for everyone…with options ranging from salads to seafood to pasta and beef which is locally sourced. Plus there are fresh new side options to choose from on the menu. Everyone in my group of six said their appetizers, entrees and sides were cooked to perfection and delicious! The desserts are amazing too! The service at the bar and our table was excellent. In my opinion, The Tavern now has the best food and service in State College. In addition to that, it is worth going just to see all the amazing PSU photos and memorabilia and have a drink at one of their new bars including an upstairs outdoor bar! There are fun new cocktails on the drink menu plus a few old favorites like the Original Sin. The Tavern and Adam’s Apple have always been special places but they are truly incredible now! It is a must go to when in State College for a visit.

Lunch at 3pm is perfect. Still the lunch menu, but it has some things that are dinner size. No need to have dinner later. Our server was so nice and the cocktails were delish. I’m going to have fun trying to recreate a nutty cherry at home! Shrimp po’ boy and a bacon burger both came with home made chips. Almost broke a tooth with how “crispy” they were. The protein was perfect. Meal a bit too salty for me.
