My wife and I spent the summer crossing American on bicycle. Our routine was to stop in small towns to have breakfast. This one was exceptional in every aspect. I always order gravy and biscuits (Best of the trip), my wife would go with scrambled eggs and bacon. This one of our favorites and I would definitely go out of our way to visit here again. I believe this was my first visit in awhile at least, and it was nice! I ordered ahead and the atmosphere was great. I wish I was able to sit and eat. It was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food! I had biscuits and gravy with french toast n bacon. The food was very good! Not the gravy I thought it would be, but good enough. The bacon was amazing! Thick cut! Overall, I will go back!

What memories I have of Mary Lou’s. I was attending SIU in 1972/73 and mornings would head over to the train car where Mary Lou personally fed all those that stood in line to have the opportunity of enjoying her amazing biscuits and gravy. She was an amazing lady. Got to know your name. it was like having breakfast at home, except the food was even better. Bless her heart. Nothing quite like her or the place she established.
