GRACIA is the Spanish translation for the word grace. Chester Gerl’s vision for Gracia is founded on his deep admiration and reverence for Mexican culture and cuisine. A palate cultivated by his many years of travels across Mexico, growing up in Long Beach, California and his tenure in Seattle and New York kitchens, Gerl strives to create dishes reflective of his personal experiences. Sourcing pure and honest ingredients, he preserves and honors the history and techniques of traditional Mexican cuisine. Gerl imports non-GMO, heirloom corn varieties from Oaxaca, Mexico, then nixtamalizes the kernels in house; the result, fresh masa.

Stumbled upon this place while walking around looking for a spot to eat in Ballard. So happy we did it was delicious! We were sat within 10 mins of putting our name down.

I recently visited this place during their happy hour and found the food and drinks to be truly enjoyable. The tacos brought back memories of the ones I savored in Tulum. The tortas were thiccer than a bowl of oatmeal, though the happy hour prices seemed a bit steep. The establishment boasts a delightful aesthetic, a pleasant atmosphere, and an attentive staff. While I’d certainly consider returning, it’s likely I’d choose the happy hour times to make the most of the experience, considering the pricing.

We got early reservations here and we’re in our seat with a drink order quickly. Then the food showed up. What a treat. Everything is well made and incredibly tasty. Fair portions so that 3 tacos was a good amount of food for an entree. Well presented and delicious. I miss the pescado taco just recalling it now.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the entire city. The food is delicious and actually tastes fresh, the flavor to heat ratio was perfect. Our server Julia was fantastic and so friendly, double-checking our allergies and making sure we had everything we needed. I’ll definitely be bringing friends and family here in the future!

My friend and I had a lovely experience at Gracia. Came in for a late lunch on a Saturday and quickly got to talk. The staff was exceedingly friendly and kind and throughout the meal we had great service. Started off with an excellent spicy margarita, that was not too sweet, just the way I like it. The salsa and chips were great and the tacos exceptional. I was so hungry, I forgot to get a picture of my tacos, but the Lengua was a stand out. My friend had the Oaxacan old fashioned that he liked as well. I finished my meal with a guava margarita that was great. Didn’t get to try out the agave spirits but the menu was extensive. Will definitely be back soon.
