House favorite!

At first the oxidative, saline, nutty aroma’s demand all your attention, but then there’s an underlying abundance of yellow fruit, honey and spring flowers. The bouquet becomes increasingly complex and seductive as the wine breathes in the glass.

First time at Onion City and it has already moved towards the top of my Vermont recommendations list. The service was so great – I went with a group of 5 and we were able to get a seat outside (they only have a couple picnic like tables) and quickly order their $2 oyster special (runs until 5pm). They had 4 different kinds of oysters and we really enjoyed them all. Rounded out our meals with a unique Dirty Martini and some of their fried chicken – both were delicious and I will definitely be back for more next time I’m in town. Run don’t walk to check out OCCO at the top of the Winooski circle!

Great service and delicious food. The oysters tasted fresh and the staff were extremely knowledgeable on the selection, and offered great suggestions for what would be best. The fried chicken is perfectly crispy, and served with an amazing honey sauce. The biscuits are also essential to try. The potato salad is German style, with large chunks of potato and mustard seed which adds a really nice tanginess to cut through some of the richness of the rest of the meal. Cocktails are also excellent. The price is a little higher than your average fried chicken place, but worth it for the amazing flavors you get in the meal, in combination with great service.

Holy amazing oyster Batman! This place is amazing. Great vibe. They had a nice selection of NA beer by Rescue Club (Much appreciated by this person in recovery) and the oysters were to die for. Beautiful experience. I’ll be back!

Loved the tater tots with fish roe! Delicious oysters. Excellent cocktails. We have also heard that the cheesy beignets are good but did not get a chance to try. Looking forward to coming back.

An outstanding little restaurant with the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It’s a little pricey but well worth it. The staff was fantastic. Highly recommend. Definitely get the potato salad! I don’t like potato salad normally but it’s absolutely delicious here!

On a Sunday night, there were a few options for us to seek out dinner. As we are big fans of Misery Loves Company, we went nearby to Onion City Chicken & Oyster. The staff are courteous and attentive. Our small party started with drink: margarita, lemonade and Venetian Ginger Ale. The margarita was a classic, served on ice with salt on the rim; subtle and delightful with the dishes we had.

Had an incredible dinner this past weekend! We tried the caviar, cheddar beignets, a couple of their incredible takes on classic cocktails, the half bird dinner with the onion, cucumber salad and greens and herbs and the biscuit with fruit for dessert. Staff were friendly, accommodating, and could answer any question we had. Service was quick but never rushed, very well timed. Unfortunately, despite an incredible dinner, just a few hours later I suffered from some pretty intense food poisoning which quite literally has left a bad taste in my mouth. Even with the less than desirable end to my evening, I do still recommend trying OCCO!

There were some great items on the menu. The tater tots are actually a very nice croquette with some nice seafood features. The chicken is amazing. We went through 4 dozen oysters between five of us. Some of us had them as an entree. To h house pickles. The drinks – bartender is an artist.
