Was excited to go to the place because of reviews, as such a mix. Overall, will say the service was good, nice but meal is expensive for quality of food. If you are charging that amount for fries, should have more than ketchup. Meat was cooked correctly but didn’t taste the price, because quality is not there. They either need to charge lower prices or buy better meat. Will say cocktails were great. I would go back for cocktails and some food, unsure about a sit down dinner.

Overpriced!! Service was awful other than that the bartender was friendly. Took 3 bartenders to make one drink. Hostess had us wait and didn’t take down our number to be notified when table was ready. Waitress walked past us 10 times and we had to ask who I presume to be an assistant manager who our server was. Lobster mac & cheese had two small bites of lobster; sauce was cheese not lobster cheese. Brussel sprouts were heavily fried. Bison filet was tender and tasty but under-salted. For these prices service & food should be much better.

SO GOOD! We started with the Bison Tartare, we each then had a side salad. I had the Salmon for my entree, my husband had the Beef Filet with frites. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! One of the best meals I’ve ever had! We both had dessert as well, cheesecake and oatmeal cookie. If I am ever lucky enough to get back here I would probably skip dessert. The dessert was good though, just not a must.

We ate dinner at Open Range for the first time this week and had a very nice meal. The restaurant itself was comfortable, had engaging decor and the classic country music playlist was wonderful. Our server was friendly and professional. We felt well taken care of and did not have to wait for anything. We started with a cheese board, and enjoyed it. The cheese, crisp bread and house made jam were excellent. All of our food looked appetizing and tasted great. My wife ordered the vegetable crepe and she said it was delicious. I ordered the double smash burger with fries and it was very good. We also had drinks that arrived quickly and hit the spot. We both enjoyed our time at Open Range and will return here again in the future.

It’s the dog wall for me. Got me straight in the feels with that one. I love it. Open Range has classic steakhouse dishes done right. The French onion soup is a great starter, and the wedge salad is perfection. My favorite cut is the ribeye, served up with crispy potatoes.

Delicious meal. I had the 12oz New York cut, it was excellent. It was accompanied by family style servings of mashed potato and truffle fries, which were both awesome. The cornbread was outstanding. All 5 of my colleagues additionally enjoyed their meals as well. The cocktails were well done. Easy to locate. Free parking is ample on the streets.

The food at Open Range does not live up to the hype nor the high price. The chicken was over breaded and extremely small portioned (like half a chicken breast and a small thigh). Very disappointing. The $46 halibut was tasty and cooked well but it was also a very small portion and showed up well after the other 4 meals in our group were served. As a vegetarian option the Vegetable Gateaus (2 ordered) were poorly executed. Amazingly, $24 gets you a bacon appetizer with only 2 strips of thick cut bacon (perhaps a 90% mark-up on this appetizer and the $16 order of fries). The brussel sprouts were average at best. Interestingly, the best part of this meal was the smash burger. Despite the very poor value and average food we received at Open Range, the atmosphere is nice and our server was pleasant.

We enjoy fine dining fairly regularly. Expectations run high when dropping this kind of money on one meal…here goes my opinion. This place must be all hype bc one certainly does not get what they pay for. Open Range is no where near on par with true fine dining. The quality just isn’t here.

Open Range is steakhouse in the middle of Main street in downtown Bozeman. The outside appearance fits the bill with a beautiful brick facade equipped with a sign that shows a silhouette of a steer. Inside it is simple, clean and more casual than I expected. In all fairness, downtown Bozeman is a very cool, casual college town.

Great service and high quality local beef. Probably one of the top 10 ribeyes I have ever had.
