Forcella is bringing old-world Italian food to the North End of Boston.
Nino Trotta — who owns Forcella alongside his girlfriend, general manager Shannon MacGowan, and his brother, wine director Christian Trotta — say that the cozy, candlelit vibe of the restaurant sets Forcella apart in a sea of massive North End trattorias.

The team designed a menu that includes dishes from all over Italy, with a slight lean toward Naples, Primi dishes include meatballs, and crispy quail, while pastas range from linguine alle vongole and risotto to gnocchi with braised rabbit. Salmon, ribeye, and pork porterhouse round out the menu.

DELICIOUS!!!!! Food was phenomenal! Bread could have been better. But, our dishes were delightful! We got a table on the patio on a nice night! Made a reservation & was sat right away. They definitely wanted to flip tables quickly as we felt a bit rushed. I eat slowly & my husband eats quickly. I still had food left on my plate when they took his away. They tried to take mine two more times while we were still talking, drinking, & I was still eating. Dinner was delicious!

Got recommended by one of my colleagues and recently took a visit for dinner. The place was quite small, and I liked that it didn’t attract a lot of tourists like most places on Hanover street. We came in on a Saturday night, but there were a few empty tables available for walk-ins.

The service was top notch! Our host Philip brought us to the patio garden for our dinner. It was slightly chilly and Philip offered to bring me a makeshift blanket from a clean table cloth to place over my lap! That was a game changer. Plus the food was amazing. Highly recommend the meatballs and shrimp scampi.

I was very satisfied with my experience here. The waitstaff was friendly and pleasant, and the food was delicious. I had the bolognese pasta with a glass of prosecco and the tagliata appetizer (charcuterie). We ate outside on their patio on a warm summer evening and everything was very cozy and comfortable. I’d highly recommend a visit!

Super Amazing Place. The food is off the charts good. As a kid who grew up with immigrant grand parents and lots of good food this place makes me warm and happy inside. Great suggestion from the local wine shop up the street. Went back twice while in town, it was that good.

Lovely place off the main road in the north end ! Came for a birthday celebration and we were immediately surprised at how large their backyard seating looked.

Outstanding. We lucked into a table as walk-ins, but it truly is tiny and I would definitely recommend reservations. It was a busy Saturday night. Everything was outstanding – service, flavors, presentation, timing, atmosphere. Five stars!

Cute and intimate space with charm, great for a date. I brought my wife on our 5th year anniversary of our engagement. The service was mediocre and our server did the bare minimum to engage with us and spoke with little to no excitement or care about his job. The food was good; it felt like an upscale home cooked dish and that is not to say it was boring at all, rather that it had the charm of something your Italian grandmother might make but elevated to fine dining. My wife had Carbonara and personally she said that she likes mine better (I am an ex-chef). I had rabbit gnocchi which was fantastic and really satisfied me on this very cold December night. The is no dessert menu, so keep that in mind. Mike’s pastries is a few steps around the corner so we brought dessert home and that was nice. All in all, service needs to step up, the food was great, there was no dessert menu, the wine selection is great and the servers are knowledgeable about pairings, the atmosphere, ambiance and charm made the space feel cozy and intimate. I have tried about 70% of the restaurants in the north end and this one would be in my top 10 easily, maybe top 5.
