Really liked this place! The lamb, the caviar cheesecake, and all the dessert here were exceptional. I’m still thinking about them 2 weeks after eating here. However, the crudo and the ravioli were just okay, and that’s the reason I didn’t give a five star for the food. For a short pri frix menu, everything should be very good for a restaurant of this caliber.

Michelin one star restaurant. Awkward service, food too fussy, many dishes were simply too experimental. I have been to 54 countries, many Michelin 1/2/3 star restaurants in Europe, Asia and America. Expensive to start and then they add a mandatory 20% tip/surcharge. Go to Gary Danko and have a beautiful calm dinning experience.

Vegetarian and gluten-free friendly. Went here on Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend who has Celiac’s disease. If you let them know of your dietary restrictions, they will prepare and get gluten-free bread ahead of time.

Cali/ Italian fine dining experience headed by young chef with great talent. Nothing beats tasting their creations now while they are still developing their menu and will pose for photos with their diners!

The food was delicious! The menu is prix fixe and every single course was impressive. We ordered the seasonal duck and wow – very much worth it. Additionally, the white sturgeon caviar was a highlight for the experience with the freshness of the tomato and strawberry salad. We opted for the wine pairings and it was really well matched so I’d encourage others to do the same. The ambience was perfect, too. I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve come to this 1 Michelin Star restaurant with much anticipation, so why did I gave it only a 3 star review. Well, for one, I’m a tough critic who has eaten in many Michelin Starred restaurants around the world. So to me, dining is an entire experience (especially when we are paying a huge premium for Michelins in SF) which is more than just the food, everything else must be perfect. It’s about the service, the vibe, the decor and even the ambience in the restaurant. Although the pandemic made this challenging, the outdoor seating just could not match the decor and atmosphere of having a nice table inside. They did the best they can to accommodate and put us at the bar (which is honestly a very good seat, albeit a bit cram). The waitstaff was one of the most friendly and considerate in SF. The food and wine (which has a selection of natural wines) were truly innovative (as you can see from the photo of the menu), with a seasonal strawberry theme to all the courses. Everything was delicious all the way up until the main course, which felt a little flat. The taste just didn’t match that of the earlier courses. They were good in a sense that we taste the original taste of the tripe bass and squab (which is a focus of “California Cuisine”). However, the savory taste of the soup and the sauce did not go into the body of the main course, so each bite of the main felt bland compare to the savory cappelletti pasta before it and the dessert after it. Maybe my expectation were too high, or California cuisine is just not for me, but these 2 slightly offbeat experiences is what stole the 2 star from my entire dining experience, leaving them a 3 out of 5.

The service was really excellent! Both the appetizers we tried (potato fritter with black truffle and caviar, and the kampachi crudo) were delicious. 2 of the 4 pastas we tried were great, the other 2 were decent. The desserts were not to our liking, but they made them complimentary and replaced them. The drinks were good too, although it seemed like the temperature of the wine wasn’t precisely controlled. One big plus was that they accommodated our 3-year-old very well, which is a rarity in Michelin-starred restaurants.

Went here for my birthday and had the tasting menu and added oysters. I can not say enough good things about this place. From the experience, to the creativity of the dishes, to the staff, this place fired on all cylinders! The oysters are some of the best I’ve ever had, but i think my favorite dish was the hamachi crudo. The freshly baked sourdough bread and fresh butter was even excellent. I will be bringing others back here for sure. This food is art and if I could give 6 stars, I would.
