Chef Hales is excited to be back home in Tampa Bay. Our made-from-scratch Dim Sum Dumplings, Hand-made Noodles and Wok-Fired favorites are inspired by Chef’s travels in Asia and enhanced by local flavors. Our original location opened in Miami in 2013.
We offer reservations for our dining room and accept walk-ins for our bar, outdoor patio and limited service picnic area. Our dining room, in-door bar and out-door patio offer all-day lunch and dinner selections, desserts, beer, wine and cocktails. Our picnic seating offers a limited food menu, beer, wine and cocktails. Our picnic seating is great for pre-game pre-concert and post event gatherings.
We will feature local live music bands and DJ’s on select nights and game-days.

One of the best eats in Tampa! Food is fresh and cooked so well. The fried chicken (Ma La) is amazing and just a little spicy. Pork belly is always good and though most people are used to a fried pork belly, this one is still delicious. Egg roll really good but missing something. Fried rice is solid but also missing a little something for it to be incredible – still all amazing dishes though.

This place is so dope! It’s Chinese food but a different style, and it’s kind of like tapas. Our waitress recommended you order a bunch of dishes and share amongst the table. That was a great idea! The drinks are also good. We got the ribs, egg rolls, dumplings, and a noodle dish. I’m a huge fan of Guy Fieri, and I remember seeing this restaurant on an episode of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, in Miami, so I am so glad the chef opened this location in Tampa! It’s definitely pricey, but worth the food. I recommend getting a reservation, the place is smaller than average, so you might have to wait a while if you don’t have one. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and the food comes out quick! I highly recommend!

Went for a date night on Saturday. Place was really busy but was able to be seated right away just before our reso time. Service was great, Chef Hales stopped by every single table. Food was incredible! Fried rice portion was HUGE and delicious. I’m usually fairly picky and don’t eat seafood but I tried shrimp (in fried rice) & the General Tso gator – both amazing. Pork & cabbage dumplings were my favorite. Highly recommend.

I had been wanting to try t his place since before they opened. Finally made it there for my mom’s birthday. The service was fantastic!!! The vibe was very cool, though it was clearly a Diner before, they have managed to turn it into a very cool and modern space that is classy yet comfortable. The food was terrific!!! The 4 of is shared the fried rice with pork and shrimp, the Dan Dan noodles with a peanut sauce, the general tso gator and the famous egg rolls. It’s hard to say which was our favorite, I would order them all again. They even brought my mom some boozy ice cream as her birthday dessert. She loved it!! It’s definitely worth the splurge if you are looking for a fun evening out. We will be going back to try more of their delicious menu!

I had been wanting to eat here since they opened. Finally made it and Chef Hales himself was actually at this location. He walked around and engaged with everyone. The staff was exceptionally nice and you could tell they enjoyed their job. The food was of course excellent. Best egg rolls ever. Same with the fried rice. The Kung Pao rabbit was excellent. Will definitely return.

Delicious egg roll and dumplings ( even though we got crab&pork, we didn’t taste crab at all). Duck ( appetizer) was so good .Berry tart was delicious. The only one dish that we didn’t like was truffle mushroom pasta: small portion for 33$, not enough salt, truffle taste and other spices, unfortunately it was bland . But overall experience 10/10)we will be back)

Sometimes, when you go to a popular restaurant, you get the feeling you’re supposed to feel grateful to be there. At Hales Blackbrick, you get the feeling that not only are you welcome there, but they are glad that you chose there to dine tonight. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. Our server Brittany made great recommendations and explained different options on the menu. Everything we had was excellent. I never thought I would mention an egg roll in a review, but it was ridiculously good. We also enjoyed Siu Mai, Dan Dan Noodles, and Chengdu Kung Pao Shrimp. Everything was delicious. The chef/ owner came around to each table and introduced himself, told us a little about himself, and thanked us for coming. With the combination of tasty food and a welcoming atmosphere, it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever enjoyed. Reservations are recommended, and it’s a good night to leave the kids at home. We were already talking about our return visit when we got back in the car.

What a fantastic restaurant! The eclectic decor, 90s hip hop and R&B in the background, and attentive service staff all accentuated what I’d call one of my top Asian dining experiences! The food is not traditional, but they let you know Chef Hales places his own twist on dishes he’s learned in his travels across Asia. I thought the food was very reasonably priced given the quality! The meal was topped off by a visit by the chef himself!! Definite recommend on this one!
