Hole-in-the-wall, super yummy Mexican eatery with very limited menu but delicious food. Steady busy on a Monday night — a good sign. You order at the counter and food comes in styrofoam and you have to buy bottled water (they don’t serve glasses of water)…. but, the food is good! I had the Fiesta Bowl and veggie tacos.

The tacos are addictive depending on who makes them. Sometimes, the taco shells are not fresh, and the meat isn’t always consistent with seasoning at the restaurant. Also, the restaurant tends to be slovenly in appearance and ghetto in the atmosphere.

I’ve never been to Olivo Taco but I did have their food truck at my wedding reception. We ordered for the wedding party in advance so that the wedding party orders would be ready to be delivered to our head table upon arrival so all of the guests could start their orders right away. Not one person in 17 got their tacos. I’ve emailed 3 different times since the wedding asking what happened with NO response. The customer service now and leading up to our big day was mediocre at best. I did have someone give me an order of tacos at one point so I got to try them and they were delish on a positive note but thumbs down on communication and customer service without a doubt. Thankfully we had another food truck that was amazing Disco Chicken was delish, prompt, communicative, etc. I would recommend them over Olivo any day.

This review is for the food truck on East State Street in Rockford. So what is the huge hype about these baby finger size tacos? The tortillas are dry, the meat is dry, the cheese is not melted completely. And the heavy set lady that takes your order doesn’t know how to say “thank you.” I mean if our community is making you and your family 600$ in under 4 hours, you should at least say thank you to your customers. And stay off your phone sweetie, because idk if you’re taking a picture of my card information.

Rude staff. If you pay with cash, they take your order. If you pay with card, you order yourself on ipad. Did I mention Rude staff? Order was messed up.. 3 of 5 items ordered. Had to ask 2x of the drink. Food.. Not very good..compared to other Taco places within a couple blocks. We will NOT go back. This was our 3rd try.. Always try again..still RUDE staff… Until I started speaking Spanish… As i walked away from counter with my cold food.
