My family tried takeout from this neighborhood restaurant for the first time last night. The food was across the board delicious. We had the meatball sandwich, the tuna melt, the short ribs, garlic bread and caesar salad. The meatballs were very tasty, had the right texture and the marinara was fresh tasting and perfectly seasoned. We are Italian so we are fussy about meatballs and sauce!

Culinary Affair a smallish modest Italian eatery whose food is anything but modest. We had ziti with meatballs in a red sauce and an order of grilled scrod with a bean pasta side. Both dishes came with a side garden salad. The salad was crispy fresh with the sweetest cherry tomatoes. The pasta was just right and, most amazing, they were not stingy with the sauce. The meatballs were handmade that day and super tasty. The scrod was fresh, not frozen and very generous in size. The whole meal including drinks (beer and wine) ran about 35 a person with tip. Parking is ample and free.

You know you have been waiting for the grand re-opening. And oh, is it worth the wait. Kitchen 37 at Culinary Affair is so, so good! My new favorite dish — so far — is the smoked grilled shrimp. The sauce that comes with it is honestly crave-worthy. Add a side of the pastine & veggie couscous and it makes a perfect lunch! (See photo) My husband loved the fried chicken sandwich which was a very generous portion. (See photo) And, the new décor is inviting and fresh, while the family-friendly, welcoming charm of Chefs John and Michael, plus their staff, endure to make this local favorite your go-to for takeout or dine-in. We can’t wait to try all the new options on the creative menu!

Made reservations for 4. Got there and sat at our table. Ten minutes later given menu’s. Ten + minutes later we walked out. Regulars were waited on while we were ignored. Never go back.

Culinary Affair has been around for many years and I have had the pleasure of eating in, taking out, and catering for years of Christmas parties at my home. You are family. So happy you guys are back and love the new concept and food. Keep moving forward. Hoping the best is yet to come. Can’t wait for my takeout this week.

Excellent food! My lunch was tasty and reasonably priced. Kitchen area is clean and lots of made from scratch dishes. Check out Culinary Affair in our October issue of The Rhode Island Wave and the video that goes with it. 🙂

Since they reopened we have been wanting to give it a try. The night we went we were glad to see that they had the gemelli on special. We were surprised to see that they now serve food in cardboard like bowls, and plastic plates. The pasta sauce soaking the bowl made it very flimsy and started to ruin the taste. We got the brisket too but it came out very dry. The new concept is more like a deli, no waitresses, plastic plates and plastic utensils. Can’t see dining in there again for dinner but will be on the look out for some specials I can order to go.

Our new favorites at this fantastic eatery are: the Meatball torpedo (we get the meatballs as a side sometimes too because they are so good). My husband says the short rib grilled cheese is addictive. I get the thanksgiving meatloaf often, it is so tender and delicious (I’m usually not a fan of meatloaf). We might be slightly addicted to the carrot cake as well (something else I usually am not a fan of). I’ve learned with John and Mike to try their version of classics because they never disappoint with their fresh perspectives. Still enjoying our caesar salad and pasta fix as well. We enjoy takeout weekly, which is now even easier with the online ordering system. There is definitely something for everyone!

As the old saying goes; “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Before this MAJOR change I would go to Culinary 1-2 days per week. You must give the people what they want. People want burgers, chicken dishes, steak dishes, and the former pasta dishes and FRESH BREAD with oil that were once served before this change. Other than the changes, the staff are still their happy, cheerful selves and a pleasure to talk to.
