Best place for cuisines from Northern China. Handmade dumpling, handmade noodles, noodle patches (flat noodles), pot-stickers, and dim sum from northern part of China, and a variety of delicately prepared authentic Chinese food. Their cooking style is not the same as the most Americanized Chinese restaurant in town. So, expect the authentic northern Chinese culinary dishes, enjoy them and expecting something unexpected. If you like real Chinese Spicy Hotpot. This is only place in town you can get them. Suggest you start with dual broth pot (spicy and non-spicy broth in one divided pot) so you can try your tolerance to real spicy food. Also, check out their bulletin boards for weekly specials and new dishes. Their hand tossed North-Eastern style salad is a must dish for every meal. Dry braised Crawfish and braised ham hocks are also two unique dishes you cannot get elsewhere! I am a regular there so tried most of their specials already. Check out the food pictures I uploaded.

I used to go to Happy Valley all the time when they were at their old location. Today’s hot pot was exactly like it used to be back then! Terrific thin sliced meats with seafood, noodles and vegetables. Fried wantons were excellent!

Happy Valley is my favorite restaurant of all time. My friend and I spent the vast majority of our limited money in our youth eating there when they were still in Aggieville. Sometimes twice a day. As we got older (and tried to be more fiscally responsible), Happy Valley was always a place we celebrated life and soothed our sorrows. The Ma Po Tofu, Crab Rangoon, and hot and sour soup is my favorite meal in the world. While I miss the feel of the old location, the food is as good as ever at their newer location. If you are looking for authentic Chinese dishes made with care and consistency, check them out! I just want to say a huge thank you to the owners and chefs for bringing me so much joy and deliciousness over the last 15 or so years.

I was actually really disappointed. I have ordered takeout and it was decent. I decided to sit in one day and had a bad experience. My friend and I got separate dishes, yet the sauce was slightly different. It was heavily covered in the sauce too. In a bad way. It was caked on so thick that I got stomach pains trying to digest it all. Their fried rice is not your typical rice. I just feel like overall it was expensive for what they were selling.

The food is amazing!!! Very flavorful with a large menu that varies from traditional Chinese dishes to more american style stuff. The restaurant decor is very nice and the staff are super friendly. They sent us out some fried dumplings for free which I thought was really nice and they were delicious. If you love great Chinese and hot pots you have to eat here. It is by far the best in Manhattan and would be a contender anywhere!!!!!

I had a great experience here. Personally, I have no food allergies. My food was delicious and it was a big enough portion that I took home leftovers. I have friends that have gluten allergies and peanut allergies and all of them were able to eat with ease. I loved my experience at Happy Valley.

Excellent! Much more authentic then other places. Much better selection of dishes. We have been working our way through the menu and all have been delicious and not the same boring Americanized dishes as other places. So glad they are in Manhattan!! We are ready after a year, to add to another post: We enjoy the atmosphere of semi privacy with use of sheer curtains, but we can see what others order and are eating. It is a relaxed atmosphere and the waiters take good care of the clients. We have grown fond of the house salad that is served cold with glass noodles, bean sprouts, carrot strips, cucumber pieces, pork and other things like fresh squid.

DO NOT GO IF YOU KNOW WHAT TRUE CHINESE FOOD IS.Prices are high for all dishes. I have eaten at quite a few Chinese restaurants never have I had to pay for my rice to come with my meal .They gave me a choice of white or fried rice and if your going to charge me I am getting fried rice. The “fried rice ” is basically eggs with white rice, but at least the soup was free ( woohoo). Ordered orange chicken tasted like the chicken was fried in oil they used to fry the pork.GOOD LUCK IF YOU EAT THERE.

My wife and I have been on the search for some good fried rice, and Happy Valley does it right! The House fried rice has most everything in it and is our favorite. The egg rolls are some of the best we’ve had as well!

I am not able to give negative stars, but if I could it would be -5. This is by far the worst chinese place I have ever been to!! They are over priced, the food has no flavor, and they are not able to make something as simple as “fried rice”.
