My husband and I finally were able to try out schnitzel’s! Every time we’ve tried before the wait was insane so we were really happy to get a spot at the bar. Our server/ bartender was friendly and informative. The atmosphere was really good, everyone was enjoying themselves. The music was interesting and honestly wished there was German music playing we watched the playlist and maybe one German song came on during the hour and a half we were there.

I was a bit worried after reading the mixed reviews, but I wanted to give it a try, and I found it amazing. The service was very friendly, and the food was great. We ordered the flatbread with chicken schnitzel, pretzel, and bratwurst platter, and everything was excellent.

Had a great time at the bar at Schnitzels – friendly staff, great selection of German beers (Röthaus!!) and a delicious brat at a very reasonable $9. I had 2 beers and the brat and spent less than $30 total. Will be coming back very, very soon!

Food, and service! Top notch all round I must say, this German pub goes right to the top of my favorite places around Stony Brook University. Friday 4pm loads of people managed to get the last couple of seats for me and my wife. We ordered the wurst appetizer platter + Belgium fries along with the dark lager boot sized beer and the German resiling. The smoked wurst was our favorite type of German sausage and the curry sauce that came with the fries was amazing! I even dipped some of the wurst in it , it was that good! We split the pork chop platter later on. I’d say the food is amazing and so is the beer on draft. Have to try their Hefe next time, maybe as a flight. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I was extremely excited to see this place pop up as there is no other local German spots. My husband and I came in on a Sunday, we were immediately seated. The service was slow but we expected that as the place is new. The atmosphere was great and had a German gastro pub vibe to it. As for the food, we were not impressed at all. My husband and I ordered the beer cheese soup and Schnitzels’ Poutine as appetizers; the Bratbread and the The Schnitz as our entrées. For some reason his entrée came first then the appetizers 15 mins later, this wasn’t the main issue. The issue was the quality and taste of the food. The beer cheese soup was watery and the taste was just off, the poutine was okay but nothing great (gravy was tasteless), the flatbread my husband ordered was undercooked and chewy, my sandwich was the best part of the meal. Sad to say we were not impressed at all and left unsatisfied but may give another chance once they’ve been open for a while.

We sat at the bar. It was not cleaned when the hostess sat us there. We had to ask for it to be cleaned. We ordered 2 drinks an app and 2 dinners. Drinks and app were fine. Main courses were not good. He had the Mac cheese. It was mostly a bowl of cheese. I had the preztel schnitzel and I didn’t eat a bite. The honey mustard was mustard and it was drenched it it, I tried wiping it off. I would of asked for something else but no one came back. The guy helping us went in back to get beer to stock. When he finally came, we said we just wanted check to leave and my plate was full. Girl took plate and he just handed us check without a word. We paid and left. We won’t be back. I was in Germany in April and may so I was so excited as I love German food and we are locals. Very disappointed . The pic is the food they took as they gave me the check.

Awesome! Highly recommend. Schnitzel was better than I’ve had in Germany and our bartender was more than hospitable.

I have been here a few times and I really like it. The service is friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. They have some really good beers on tap and the food is very good, but I wouldn’t say great…but it is enjoyable and it keeps me coming back (I do love their jagerschnitzel and red cabbage). If you are looking for authentic German fare, I would not put Schnitzels in that category. They have German style food on the menu (as well as other styles), but it’s not what I would call authentic German…and I spent a lot of time in Germany. That being said, I don’t think you will be disappointed here. As I said, the food is good, portions are decent and it won’t break your wallet. But it does get crowded so be prepared – you may have a bit of a wait. Bottom line – I recommend Schnitzels and I’ll keep going back…only wish they would add German potato pancakes to the line up
