What a hidden gem in Fremont, let alone, the Bay Area in California. We dined here for a dinner service, where it was a prix fix menu, with optional add-ons. Ambiance is perfect for a special evening, celebration, or just a nice occasion. Price was very reasonably priced for all of the dishes served, and I must say, everything from the presentation to the quality of the dishes / taste were outstanding. We asked about how often the menu rotates, and it sounds like it gets changed out every 3-4 months. Service was seriously impeccable, as someone was always just a reach away to help answer any questions. I haven’t been to a place like this in the Bay Area for a very long time where it hit all marks (price, taste, service, ambiance), so we’ll definitely be back for dinner, and would love to try their brunch one day. Kudos to Chef Eimi Kurata. Highly recommended.

Great and decent brunch! Recommend crispy chicken croffle and ube mocho pancake. Loco moco is also ok, it’s different from normal loco moco which serves on rice. The matcha latte is a bit too sweet. The presentation of food is good and the environment is great.

In a city known for having more fast food and chain restaurants than fine dining, SOHO Modern Japanese is an absolute oasis in the center of the reheated packaged food desert. I honestly didn’t have high expectations when booking a reservation for SOHO, but was utter surprised and delighted by the entire meal and dining experience. The food at SOHO was on par than many of the high end sushi restaurants I’ve tried in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and New York. Each dish that came out was clean, light, and did a fantastic job of highlighting the ingredients. The presentations of the dishes were visually appealing and each plate that came out tasted just as good as it looked. Each dish was so thoughtfully planned out, and I found myself excited for each dish to come.

Very cute Japanese brunch place but the wait is always crazy. My group of 4 arrived at 1:30pm to avoid peak times and got seated a bit after 2pm.

We came here for brunch on Father’s Day so we expected a line. However nobody mentioned the only way to get on the wait list was by scanning a QR code by the entrance. Luckily we noted others actions and actually one of the customers in line told people eventually. The staff was silent. First thing I noticed was it felt like a night club inside. Just an odd interior for brunch. We sat at the bar which allowed quicker seating. The food was really nicely presented. Very colorful and well designed. The sushi platter was tasty but meager in quantity. My friend actually complained and the server brought us an extra piece of toro. My Ube mochi pancake was really good. Highly recommended. May come back to try the dinner. Service was adequate but they were clearly understaffed.

Finally, we don’t need to drive all the way to San Francisco for an authentic Japanese omakase; located in a strip mall next to 880; in an unlikely city of Fremont; this restaurant gives you both visual and taste pleasure; standard menu is 5 courses, 100 dollars per person; quality and presentation of the courses match the expectation of an expensive meal. Service is excellent, but still have some room for staff training, my wife is allergic to shrimp and crab; we informed our waiter; and our meals were arranged perfectly, until the last one, the soup, her soup included a shrimp ball. But it is a minor imperfect; we love the place; we had a wonderful time; and our waiter and supporting staff are courteous, explaining each dish with detailed knowledge – certainly built up my expectation and appetites; will visit again soon with my family, and friends.

I’ve been here twice recently, once to try out the dinner tasting menu and the other to their brunch. Both experiences have been phenomenal.

Every dish was very flavorful and well made. This is an upscale dining experience and modern decor. There’s preset menus which we had 2 to choose from. Every bite was a party of umami taste. Each nigiri was fantastic and we got the wagyu and toro as additions. No regrets especially since the price is higher than most japanese restaurants. Highly recommend of you’re looking to treat yourself.
