While I was on military duty, I was looking for a good place to eat. Came across Mel’s in my search. Once I got there, I didn’t know what to order. So, I looked at the previous post that had a pic of a mound of food on a plate. Show the waitress. She told me that’s the Mel’s Mess. Well, sign me up. It came out with everything just right. All I can say is make sure you bring an appetite for this.

My husband and I are traveling through and saw this place and thought why not. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with a pleasant hello. The atmosphere was cozy, the waitresses were friendly and the food was perfect. My hubby and I both ordered the catch fish and it has been our experience that fish is normally overly battered. Not this! It was by far the best fish we’ve had. I loved how the waitresses interacted with the regular customers.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. We were not greeted when we walked through the door, 2 ladies had asked the waitress about their order and they told the waitress they had been there for over an hour waiting on their food. We sat and watched employees stand around doing nothing while the cook rang the bell 4 times for someone to pick up food before he finally brought customers their food. We never were checked on for refills or anything else. Customers that came into the restaurant after we did got their food before we did so then when we decided to leave they decided to bring our food and I told them we no longer wanted it and I just wanted to pay for our drinks and leave the employee wanted to have an attitude and be rude with me. They weren’t even busy

Got the meatloaf special. 8.99 and the portions were definitely worth the price. The meatloaf didn’t have a lot of flavor, but was well cooked. Mashed potatoes were great. Green beans straight from a can, and no salt as well as the run of the mill premade dinner roll. Decor was trying. It’s pretty barren, but charming to the right person. Ice cream was not good, and jalepeno poppers were rubber. Great for older folks, or family’s who are penny pinching and don’t much care about quality. I really want to give this a 2, but staff was friendly, so I’ll go 3/5.

The food was great, the staff were really nice. The food took a minute because it was busy but still turned out great.

Really great place for home cooked flavors! I had the spanish omelet and german potatoes! Yum right. White gravy was a bit generic, similar to most restaurants these days. My mom had the catfish special (friday) and was just right for her. I took pics of the desserts which looked homemade. We tried a brownie ball. It was ok. We are more of pie people. We keep coming back for atmosphere and great service. Also cant wait to try the pizz

No names or smiles. Very very slow service took an hour to get a burger and a patty melt. Food was decent, but next time we’ll go to boomerang.
