We randomly found this place driving around and it was worth the stop.

Been missing good bbq since leaving AL and this place was recommended by my mom group. I tried the brisket, catfish, beans, fries and Cinnabon cake. Everything was delish. The brisket was a little too smokey for my taste but it was seasoned to perfection and tender as can be. The catfish is the absolute best I’ve had in the DMV not made at someone’s home. I’d highly recommend The Pit Stop for your bbq needs!

The food is consistently great every time and I would rank it as some of the best in the south.

nice family business. ribs was so tender and smoky but rib tips wasn’t as good (little bit chewy). I wish i could try their brisket (if you are little bit late, they are gone☹️) but you can order ahead and they will save for you. the lady is so nice

The food is delicious. Ribs are tender, smoked and seasoned just right. I have tried the whole menu and everything is good! I travel a long way and don’t mind making the trip to get this barbecue. Please make sure you try the Mac and cheese it is soooo good! Great service. Good atmosphere.

This is real BBQ. The wonderful aromas hit you as you arrive from the smoke billowing out from the back. Ribs, chicken and sausage are my favorite, especially the ribs, moist and delicious. Sides are good and homemade. Also, Mr. Thomas makes a different cake every day, different kinds….so good, but be ready to share because the slices are huge! There is also a patio.

I was a bit disappointed to show up an hour after opening and they were already out of brisket. But the pork sandwich was gigantic, sweet, and tender. The mac and cheese was super cheesy. I found the baked beans a bit too sweet, brothy, and one note. They weren’t bad but that’s not really what I look for in bbq beans. However mixing in the spicy sauce they have on hand actually kicked it to where I prefer it. The staff is super friendly and prices are extremely reasonable. Can’t wait to try the brisket and fried catfish…. and everything else on the menu.

I grew up with a Texas dad who was an expert BBQer. I know good barbecue. My father passed away and I have never had any as good until we found The Pit Stop. It is by far the best BBQ, besides my dad’s, that I have ever had! Ron takes his time to smoke the meat. The flavor of everything is down home delicious! I love beef but I always get the chicken because of the smokey flavor. It even has a pink hue from being in the smoker for so long yet it’s not dry at all. The food is homemade and you can tell. Ron’s kids even work there to help out from time to time. Ron is gracious, friendly and generous. And don’t get me started on the cornbread! Oh my goodness! It’s more like corn cake! Once you try The Pit Stop you’ll be hard pressed to find another place that does BBQ as well as Ron does. We LOVE it!!!!

The best BBQ food I’ve prob ever had all in one building!! I first tried the pulled pork Sandwhich with Cole slaw and it was just the beginning of this incredible food experience. I followed that up with some Mac and cheese, red Kool aid and the kale (Greens) I almost was in another world of flavor it was absolutely the best I’ve ever tasted. After all that I had the banana pudding and was calling Michelin to get this place a Michelin Star. I live 40 min away and I’m making excuses to go to Sterling to get this food.
