First time, but will not be my last. From the moment we arrived, our table of six was quickly greeted by Jamie who was a very attentive server throughout our meal.

I finally had the opportunity to return to my hometown of Laurens to eat at Rootimentary on the historic town square. Every thing was fantastic from the minute my daughter and I walked in the beautiful restaurant. We were promptly greeted, seated in a cozy booth and received excellent service from our server Jamie. Our menu choices were the Bourbon Cider Glazed Brussel Sprouts for an appetizer and then we shared a side salad, Seared Scallops and Shrimp & Grits. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back. We had the chance to speak with the owner Caleb Satterfield and loved hearing most all menu items are locally sourced. Loved hearing his story and vision for the restaurant. Do yourself a favor and make a special trip to Laurens, SC to enjoy Rootimentary!

Nice dining options are few and far between in the area. You could count places like this on one hand, and Rootimentary rises to the top. Interesting menu with classic southern-ish combinations with new twists. The meatloaf Wellington had no business being this good – topped with a pepper jelly as a kind of homage to ketchup topping mom’s meatloaf. The loaf itself was seasoned perfectly and the peppercorn sauce underneath was thyme heavy and delicious. The mushroom risotto wasn’t quite a creamy risotto, but delicious nonetheless. Collards, steak, grits, all enjoyable and high-quality. We got a couple cocktails as well, and these were probably our only complaint. The S(ide)carlet Letter was a classic combination but came out incredibly heavy on the lemon, almost to the point of being undrinkable. We also got The Duke with Buffalo Trace, and while it was good…for $16 there should at least be some kind of garnish. All the staff were kind but the bartender did seem pretty inexperienced, looked up recipes on her phone, took plates at odd times just small things that seemed like she wasn’t familiar. Lastly, the vibe in the place is good – slightly upscale and open with full view of the kitchen. The lights are a little bright for dinner service, and the bar could use slightly more comfortable chairs, but mostly matches the price point of the menu. Overall, an incredibly quality place in the area for special occasions, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The ambience needs some slight tweaks, and the staff needs some training to match the quality of the menu and food, but we’ll definitely be back. Really glad that Rootimentary is here.

Staff is very nice. I can’t remember our servers name, but she was working the bar as well. We absolutely loved her. She was so kind. Our food was delicious. The Chef came out and asked how everything was and of course we said good. I got the brunch burger and my boyfriend got the Peaches and cream pancakes. We split our food. Both dishes was so good. Compliments to the chef. Thank you for a good dining experience.

Had lunch with friends. Food was delicious, very fresh and well prepared. The atmosphere felt elegant but not fussy. Service was perfect. We never felt rushed and we were able to savor wonderful food and enjoy eachothers company and conversation. The bill was very reasonable for and upscale luncheon.

A very quaint upscale spot on the historic square in Laurens. The dining room is well appointed and welcoming. Reservations are recommended. The staff worked well to provide service to the diners, however, the server assigned to my table was only seen 3 times and when asked for a knife she never brought it.

My husband and I decided to have our date night at Rootimentary tonight. We were a little skeptical at first but as soon as we walked in we were greeted by 2 very nice ladies, they already had our table set up and waiting for us, and it didn’t take long to get our drink order. The menu items are limited but my husband and I were both thankful in the choices we made. Apparently, you don’t need many options when your food is this good. I chose the meatloaf Wellington which was AMAZING and my husband had the 12oz. Ribeye steak medium rare which was not only cooked to perfection but melted in your mouth. For dessert we had apple bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it was AMAZING! I cannot wait until we get to go back and I will definitely be recommending this delicious place to everyone.

Excellent food. Comforting. South cooking at a high level. The staff is super sweet. My only thought is that the service is slightly slower than it should/could be. Otherwise wonderful. Highly recommended. Cheers to the Chef for bringing some high standards to Laurens.

Food very good. Would be better with less salt. Interesting menu, higher prices for Laurens, but average for Greenville. Expected decor to be more upscale. I hope this was our servers first day with no training. We went very early and restaurant filled up. Server walked past table many times and never checked. Our request for drink refills, a knife and a glass of water brought by another server. Had to ask another server for dessert. We will try again. After all, there’s only 2 restaurants in town.

They were out of ribeyes and halibut. Took forever to get our beer and bottle of wine as well as refills on water. The server was so sweet and apologetic for being out of several items we wanted and for the bar being super slow. The portions for the money were very small. I don’t eat a lot but cleared my plate which was 4 ou filet and mashed potatoes. For the money I don’t think any of our portions were worth it. The food was good bit portions were super small. Bar was slow. Probably will not go back.
