Not quite the best fried chicken I’ve ever had ( I still need to drive fairly far south for that ), but this was excellent for Columbus. The meat was completely seasoned through, and not remotely dry, which is oddly uncommon around here. I do wish the skin was crispier and the chicken’s internal temp was hotter ( to be clear the chicken was cooked through just not particularly hot ). I do think this restaurant is superior to Hot Chicken Takeover.

We love visiting local places when in a new city and The Crispy Coop did not disappoint. We went on a Saturday (5pm) and there was no line or wait. The outdoor deck was perfect for dining and would be even better at night with the lighting. When the food arrived we were shocked by the volume and taste! Everything was wonderful and I could barely finish half of what I was given. The only suggestion we have is to ask for metal silverware if you dine in. The plastic cutlery was difficult and melted a bit in our hot food.

The chicken was really good. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made from scratch. The mac was rather starchy tasting. Overall, the food was not bad. My 1-star review is because if I accidentally ate a shellfish/seafood allergen I would go into anaphylaxis shock. I asked the person at the counter if they served anything shellfish because of my severe allergy and the cook in the back poked his head around and replied sarcastically with “This is Crispy Coop Chicken, we serve chicken”. Secondly, water was dripping from the HVAC all over the tables, cups, lids, etc, the lighting was dim, the floor was sticky, the parking lot was in poor condition, and the outside eating area had all the chairs up and non accessible. While the chicken was not bad. I will take my business down the road to Hot Chicken Takeover.

I ordered the 6 wings with Ohio Hot Honey sauce for $10. The sauce and the breading on the wings were very tasty, however the wings themselves had very little meat on them. The wings would’ve been worth $6-$7 as a shareable/starter, but they were not worth $10 as an entree. I am excited to come back again soon and try a different entree (the sandwich option appeared to be a good value).

decided to try the Crispy Coop tonight as it was close and convenient. needless to say i was blown away! the lady at the counter was super nice a and gave a great recommendation. i got the chicken tenders tossed in the hot honey sauce- delicious! the chicken was fresh, crispy, and juicy all at the same time. tenders were huge, i felt they were a good value. only knock is that the parking lot was a bit tight.

Very surprised by how good this food was! We came from the north side to try it out for my husband’s birthday and it was worth it! I got the traditional dark meat dinner with Mac and cheese and cornbread with a sweet tea, and left with half of my meal as leftovers because they do not skimp on serving size! My husband got the mild wings dinner with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy. We will definitely be making the short hike back to this place again!
