At our Charlotte, NC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The Big Fish Sandwich combo is a perfect way to get my quality seafood fix for the day at a manageable price. The bread they use for the sandwich is good. The fish and sauce go together perfectly! I really enjoy the flavor of Captain D’s and this location upheld that standard. The inside is also open for indoor dining. This place is clean and there were tons of seats available. Right when I walked in the staff greeted me with a smile and we had a nice interaction. Next time I go I’m trying the Fish Platter!

Nothing special when referring to the entire menu. The fish here is great! My grandmother and grandfather loved this place. The taste is still the same and they actually do have the best tartar sauce if you ask me. I say go around the time they first open for the best freshness and of course if the owner is there the food will definitely be fresh. But give there fish a try and don’t forget the tartar sauce!!

Good customer service is hard to find. I normally go at lunch time and the ladies during that time are amazing and just as sweet as can be! I went this past Saturday and had an entirely different experience. I ordered and had to add to my order and she put me on hold and never came back to the speaker. I pulled around to go inside and they are having a whole live sing a long…. singing Mariah Carey. She takes my additional order. Now singing Monica! Answers her phone….. food sitting in the window. Cook told her to get it! Not going back! The manager seems completely disconnected from his responsibilities!

On Saturday 06/03/2023, I stopped by Captain D’s on Freedom Drive to get a bite to eat and was blown away by the food!!! I ordered the white fish dinner grilled over rice with broccoli and slaw with their funnel cake sticks!!!! Absolutely delicious Everything I had ordered was cooked to perfection to where I had to get out of my car and compliment the cook by the name of Shawn Leach. He is definitely a keeper Captain D’s!!!

Went here yesterday fish was really good hush puppies were ok but a little greasy fries are alright they forgot my fried okra so I had to go back and wait 10+ min in drive thru but all in all pretty good service and food overall I still miss long John silvers
