I had heard good things about Kyoto and wanted to try a Japanese restaurant, which serves more than sushi. Kyoto didn’t disappoint. The ambiance and homely and the service is friendly. Most of the food was delicious, while some of it was ok. In appetizers th pork katsu was descent, while the takoyaki was very good. We got kids (4 & 7) the pork gyoza, Yakima soba noodles, and Yaki onigri. They loved it all. My wife ordered teppanyaki eel, which was the highlight of the dinner. I ordered the oknomiyaki, and it was delicious as well. Overall we had great time here. We will definitely recommend Kyoto, we will be back here soon.

One of the only places that serves okonomiyaki in the city, and they do it well. Huge fan of the hiroshimayaki which includes all the add-ons I usually like for $1 extra for a good overall portion size. The wasabi octopus appetizer is also really great. Tried some other items on the menu like the fried items which were ok, and a little small portion-wise

Prior to moving to Japan in 2019, we were still only coming on special occasions because, even though the flavors are on point, we considered it too pricey for comfort food. Nothing on the menu is substantially different from what you’d find in a neighborhood diner or food court in Tokyo. Yes, some ingredients need to be imported, but an okonomiyaki is mostly flour and cabbage.

Haven’t been here in quite a bit of time. The food is still fantastic! Helpful staff, friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, limited outside dining, and a great rotation of imported Japanese alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks!

It’s one of the best japanese cuisines I’ve tasted in the greater Pittsburgh area. Excellent variety of alcohol, deserts, and a semi-customizable okonomiyaki menu.

I had a wonderful experience! The atmosphere and service were great and the food was phenomenal. I actually spent three weeks in Japan traveling to Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Kagoshima this past spring, and the food at this restaurant is exactly like the food I had overseas. It was like being in the country again! Very authentic and full of taste. I will be back!

The staff is very polite and friendly. The food is great. There are not many other places in Pittsburgh one can get food like they have here. They have hot Japanese style dishes such as okonomiyaki, teppanyaki, katsu and karage. They also carry a wide selection of alcoholic drinks from Japan.
