I visited Haines Steak House this evening while visiting Baker City. We were welcome with no wait and the service was fantastic. The meals were so delicious. Our steaks were juicy and full of flavor, and you get so many sides. Our meal came with salad bar, chili, baked beans, corn bread, and your choice of potato. The atmosphere made me feel like I was in a small town movie, I love the honey decor. The salad bar that was in the wagon was the hilight of the interior. I would dine here again any day. Every bite of our meal was fantastic!

Hidden gem, get off the interstate and come to what has been a great place to eat for over 20 years for me. The steaks are cooked to perfection and the salad bar and soup is always fresh and tasty. The baked beans are worth the drive by themselves and the garlic bread is just what the Dr. ordered. I look forward to visiting Eastern Oregon just to stop in for dinner.

Upon sitting down we were told there were no baked potatoes. Rice or French fries were our only option. Ordered a $30+ ribeye medium rare, prime rib medium rare ( also around $30) and our companions split a shrimp platter. An hour goes by and no food. We did get the salad bar. The steak arrives and it’s thin, less than 3/4 of an inch and it’s done, dead, well done. Prime rib was also on the more done side and the fries were frozen steak fries. Our waitperson was very nice and did offer me another steak but they were closing the kitchen by the time we finally got served. so it didn’t seem feasible. Not the best experience.

The atmosphere was pretty amazing. The waitress was good, she was busy and kept up really well. The food was so so. When we go back I will order a different cut of steak, the Ribeye was definitely Choice, too much fat to meat ratio. My husband’s prime rib was outstanding though.
