This was my first time Shakou. I highly recommend the appetizers as you will get the try the chefs more creative and unique takes on sushi. Several variations of ahi tuna are all great. There are many traditional rolls as well and some non sushi options, like ribs. They do close a little early, keep that in mind when going for a longer time.

Birthday Dinner time!! The sashimi was fresh and buttery. The rolls were good flavor, but the rice was a bit mushy and too much of it. The calamari tempura was crispy and yummy, but more meat! My husband enjoyed his chicken katsu. The breading was light and crunchy.

Shakou Barrington is now my husband and I FAVORITE sushi and Asian cuisine restaurant. Tempura shrimp and vegetables were a great appetizer. Mixed drinks amazing. Main course we had sushi rolls (Golden Lobster, Niko Niko, and Raging bull with crab) and with the freshest seafood. They were perfectly rolled. Black Widow is a great option too.. Presentation was beautiful. Oh the seafood miso was the best I have ever had.

Shakou, located in downtown Barrington has been on my list for a while now and finally made it to celebrate a birthday . The moment I walked in I was impressed by the interiors and stylish decor. We had reservations and were seated within minutes.

Shakou is a great place to go for sushi but a lot of the other items on their menu are really good. I’m not a huge fan of the loud music but I do enjoy the rooftop patio when the weather is nice. My favorites are the appetizers-Seven spicy ahi and lamb chops are delish. The salmon is also done well-crispy on the outside and flavorful. Great place to go with family and friends as well as a date.

Food was pretty good. Order was not what I ordered but corrected it. Dining room was pretty but the chairs were too low for the table so the table was chest height. Chairs were so mushy that I was working to stay upright the whole time . Literally had a back ache for 2 days. Will not go back. Waiter was really nice. Food was fresh

When I originally left my first review they were new. Now a Barrington staple. Happy to say , still one of the better places in town. Must try seven spicy ahi tuna appetizer, ask for the rice to be crunch or extra crunchy- delish!

The food was quite good, but not great. The waiter was attentive and staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was really nice, but the wall we were sitting by emitted a deep buzzing sound that gave us a headache. If I were to guess I’d say the air conditioning unit was behind it.

Recently had occasion to dine at this Asian restaurant. We were one of only three tables occupied. The piped in music was far too loud to have a conversation. The noise experience was made worse be all of the hard surfaces in the restaurant.
