We ordered takeout about a month ago for the first time from Pearl East. It was quite good. Fast forward to today, opening up our take out the pineapple fried rice had a hair in it and our sushi platter also had a hair. Trying to look past it (ugh) as we ordered a significant amount of food… but after eating a few pieces of sashimi and also the dragon roll, we couldn’t eat another bite. The fish was not fresh and the roll,somehow was mushy and gross.

We had dinner and found COCKROACH in one of our favorite dish, Peking style pork chop. We used to love Pearl East so much that came for lunch and dinner quite often. But this time the cockroach shocked us. We found a cockroach in the middle of the dish after we had eaten a few pieces on top of it. We reported it immediately and the general manager said she could offer a replacement for the dish. We didn’t want to eat anything in the restaurant anymore because we were not sure the safety and hygiene of other dishes. We asked for waive the meal, after a while, she approved it. We wanted to talk to the owner about the hygiene issue and the general manager claimed she is the owner at the meantime. She said it’s common to see cockroach in restaurant and it happened in the past. Besides, she mentioned that in the past there were some NICE customers who insisted to pay for the full meal when they found cockroach while the restaurant offered them to waive the meal. Does it mean we are not NICE customer because we asked to waive the meals. We asked them what they can do with the situation? The general manager who claimed she is the owner said they could do nothing. We hope they can realize it’s unacceptable to find cockroach in food when serving customers especially during pandemic HYGIENE is the most important thing. Cockroach carries diseases. PLEASE clean your kitchen properly and the entire restaurant.

Went here for an early dinner with my sister while visiting Stamford. Mask requirements have been reduced and the staff stayed masked during this visit. Having grown up in Chinatown NY, I thought the food was well made and tasty. Although the entree portions were in line with Western restaurant portions, they were smaller than what I am used to in NYC prior to the pandemic. Still, the service was good, the food was made quickly, tasty and worth the cost IMHO. I’d easily recommend this pleasant oasis of well made Chinese food.

Some authentic Chinese dishes as well as Americanized dishes. All the dishes that I have tried have been very good to excellent tasting. They serve large portions. The staff remembers their customers and makes you feel welcome.

I don’t really ever inside, I’m always on the go. Almost every time I order from here I am blown away. Last night I didn’t realized the time and called in an order 10min to kitchen closing… my expectations weren’t high bc tbh I was just hangry and needed food. They didn’t complain AT ALL and blessed me with the best lo mein I think I’ve ever had in life!!! This really is the best Chinese food in Stamford!

I’ve ordered from here several times. The last two times I’ve had issues with my order. I brought the food back and after A LOT of conversation with the rude cashier, i was issued a credit for half my order even though the full order (minus the appetizer) was wrong. I ordered 3 entrees, one was entirely too spicy (unedible) the second the chef forget to add teriyaki sauce to the shrimp teriyaki, the the 3rd the chef did not add bbq sauce to the shrimp and the shrimp was extremely bready (a dish I’ve order previously and it was not the same quality). Two weeks later i went to redeem my credit and the staff was not friendly. When i got home i noticed the EXACT same issue, zero sauce on the shrimp teriyaki and no soup with my meal. It was too late to return the food, the restaurant had already closed. I will not be ordering from here again. Sauceless shrimp teriyaki pictured below.
