Initially walking into this place, we loved the vibe and the interior design. The host was able to seat us before our reservation which was nice. We immediately could feel the volume of the restaurant and with the tables along the bench so close together, it was hard to hold a conversation. We then had to wait almost 20 minutes before anybody even brought us water or took our drink orders. It could have been an off night or somebody called in, but the service was just very slow. Saving grace was when our orders were taken, food and drink came out fast – besides our roll which we had to remind them of. I would have given this place 4 stars if the food was out of this world, it was definitely good but not good enough to overcome our frustrations. Not sure I’d recommend this place beyond their Japanese market menu.

We didn’t have a reservation, but they graciously squeezed us in. Tip: make a reservation! Everything was perfect…and I rarely think this about anyplace. Our server Odnoo (sp?) was fantastic. The Kubota Sake was served cold. My husband thought it was dry and I thought it was sweet. Go figure. The avocado roll had nori on the outside—6 small pieces. The generous red dragon roll knocked my socks off with its popping flavor. The flaming sea bass was not only a novelty but delectable. I was scooping up all the little bits that were left. I was worried that it would be charred, but it was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was trendy, contemporary, and upscale for the price. Restrooms were non-gender (see pic). The hostess hung my coat up for me!!! This was one of our favorite places during our week in SF.

Absolutely phenomenal, but to be fair we ordered the best items on the menu. Wasabi was so yummy, I initially thought it was fresh-ground (it wasn’t). Wonderful service, friendly waitresses. Great hot sake. Fish was great, and the toro roll was especially bursting with protein — rice to fish ratio was awesome. Best mackerel I’ve ever had; best matcha cheesecake too. Most of all, the price was really really low for the quality, unparalleled value. My sister and I were very surprised it was under $200 for all we ordered including two appetizers, multiple rolls, five nigiris, etc. Thanks Elephant Sushi for a lovely experience!!

Elephant Bar was INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend for sushi lovers, the food was unbelievably delicious and everything felt so great there. Definitely make a reservation as it does tend to get busy.

Fresh tasty sushi. Love this location, although the restroom should def get cleaned up more frequently, not at style.

Impressive specialty rolls and trendy ambience. I’ve had better sushi (e.g., Okane, Eiji), but for the price this certainly hit the spot. Attire casual or smart casual.

First thing I noticed when I walked in was how welcoming and friendly the staff were. The restaurant has amble seating in a vibrant, modern atmosphere. I thought our the fish in our Red Dragon and White Out rolls were really fresh, although the rolls themselves were not particularly unique for sushi on the pricier side. I’m not sure I would come back because of this but overall had a good experience.

I would recommend a reservation. It was packed with people so we waited about 55 minutes for a table. The service was quick and efficient and we got our drinks and food very quickly. Their interior is so adorable and I loved their wallpaper.

Right when I walked in I was pretty impressed. The atmosphere at Elephant Sushi is pretty great, i really enjoyed the large mural you are welcomed with as you walk into the restaurant. I had a kind of strange experience with the hostess, but she wasn’t mean or anything!

Pretty good sushi. Everybody in the restaurant were ordering Flaming seabass. It makes an interesting experiences, though some people in our party were underwhelmed with the taste. The rolls were good.
