The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees.
Popular with the college crowd, the restaurant opened additional locations near Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Roanoke College. Locations were added at the rate of one or two per year, including those in neighboring West Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Macado’s just recently opened its newest location in Winchester, Virginia.

This is a great place to come with friends and family. The kids will love the arcade and the TouchTunes jukebox to play their favorite songs. (Always PG)

Macado’s restaurant is a gem in Bluefield! Their great food, like the mouthwatering Ruben sandwich, left me craving for more even as a leftover. The lively atmosphere, superb service, and excellent value made our Sunday visit a delightful experience. No wait, despite the crowd, sealed the deal. Highly recommended!

Food was great! The best Annie Qakley I have had. I love Macado’s and make it a habit to eat there whenever I am in Bluefield.

Very impressive place. I counted 10 tv’s from my seat at the bar. Margaritas are deluxe. Food is amazing. I had hot pastrami and corned beef club on rye, yum ! I couldn’t eat it all. Husband had fried Haddock and loved it. Brought home grilled chicken alfredo w/penne noodles, salad, and spicy potato skins for Kay.

I’ve been here a few times, for lunch time…. Every single time there’s not been anyone at the front for a solid 5 or so minutes ,it has taken almost 15 minutes before a server ever showed up to see us… We’d have to ask for refills on drinks when our cups were clearly empty and we weren’t close to being done eating… I’d understand if they were slammed I guess, but that’s still no excuse… But at lunch there was maybe 4-5 other tables in the restaurant and staff just standing around in the back chatting…..

The food was good, but the waitress we had was not great. Not the most professional with us and other tables around us, and was pretty rude after we asked about getting a cookie for dessert. Literally five minutes after we finished and as soon as the check was signed some other woman, who had been in the hostess area the whole time but didn’t seat anyone, came over asking if we had gotten our dessert. Really felt like we were being rushed out the door for no reason. There was no one waiting for a table, the place was more than half empty, and the plates had been cleared. We were there for 30-35 minutes from the minute we walked in to us leaving. Guess they were desperate to just sit around and do nothing.

Walked in during a very busy time on Father’s Day with our 19 year old son. We walked to the bar part of the restaurant to sit and eat like we have done plenty of times. Ms Vaughn came over and was being a snot and rude told us to move. We explained he’s sat there before she says not today. We moved and found Virginias law on minors at bar. There is no Virginia ABC law prohibiting a person less than 21 years of age from sitting at a counter/bar in an ABC-licensed restaurant. While the restaurant can make company policy it’s not up to the bartender. It should be noted on the side that the lack of her personal hygiene should not allow her to pour perfume to mask her poor hygiene as people are very sensitive to that. But after finding policy my husband asked for the manager who some tall guy came out who was not the manager said he called the manager and stated its policy We asked to see policy which they could not produce. As stated before he’s sat at the bar with no issues before. We wouldn’t have even complained had ms Vaughan not been so rude to begin with and get odor was sos obtrusive. She needs to work on her attitude and hygiene. We sit there at the bar because when we do go my husband would like to enjoy a couple drinks and sitting at the table the wait staff does not check with you often if at all which is another issue completely. Make policy consistent and available even though I doubt that it is policy, have attentive wait staff that are clean and look presentable. Get rid of ms Vaughn for a multitude of reasons, attitude, hygiene, unprofessional behavior. Also the booth we sat in was nasty. Ketchup and food all over the pictures, everything fees likes it’s covered in a layer of grease. For a newer restaurant you would think they would keep it clean and polished up. They have let the cleanliness of it being new go and now it’s as bad as it was at the mall. They need to take pride in the restaurant and themselves. Our waitress didn’t bother to check on our food or drink until it was time to bring out our main order and get money for the bill. Service skills are completely lacking which would be why we wanted to sit at the bar since our drinks would have been refilled promptly at least. Corporate is more than welcome to reach out for more information on our visit.

For ALL negative posters…new restaurants always have waiting periods. Staff need to get familiar with new equipment/set-ups, menu, co-workers, layouts, etc. Covid shutdowns caused many to retire, stay home etc. That created a tremendous amount of job openings. Today was our first time here. This is a Beautiful restaurant/sports bar. Friendly wait staff.
