This was the first time I had soul food since I got to New Jersey and it was spot on. The food was hot and fresh and not greasy. I ordered a shrimp poboy which was more like a sandwich on buns instead of a hoagie but it was extremely flavorful. My only issues were that the condiments are the tiny little cups of hot sauce and tarter sauce and that the catfish “tasted” like swai or basa.

Skip it. Go elsewhere. Had spicy chicken sandwich with fries. Service was good. Food medicare at best. Unfortunately I can’t recommend anything. Soda machine was broken. No napkins at the table or counter, had to clean my hands with what I had in a car . I’m pretty sure this place have seen better days and seems about to retire if it’s not dead already. Wish you guys best.

We called in our order over the phone for pick up. Ordered a chicken family meal, half fried half rotisserie. Showed up about 30-40 min after we placed the order. It was a Saturday evening and the place was dead, not one customer eating inside. There were two employees, one person cooking and one person at the register/counter. Upon my arrival I was told by the girl at the register that she didn’t write down one of the sides we wanted. I told her it was the vegetables that were missing. She said she would have the cook make it. 20 minutes later they were done, then just before she rang me up, she decided to tell me they were out of rotisserie chicken and she gave us all fried chicken and asked if it was OK. Why didn’t she say that on the phone or when I arrived? Also the entire time I was there waiting for my food, the girl was on her cell phone having a personal phone call with the other person on speaker or video. Even while ringing me up, other person still on her cell phone. This used to be a really good place. Not sure what happened, but I’m soooo disappointed because it was a great place that our family loved. Hope they get it together and figure out how to turn it around.

today was the first time i came here. the woman working the counter who took my order must have been having the worst day of her life. she told me i couldn’t order things that were on the menu such as an 8 piece bucket, onion rings, and biscuits. also told me each meal comes with 1 side so i couldn’t order cornbread even though that’s a lie and my food came with the cornbread and fries. the food itself: the mac has absolutely no seasoning and neither does the chicken. it’s moist, for sure, but not even a sprinkle of seasoning to be found. was really disappointed. would have gave this place a second chance if not for the woman who took my order. will never come back here and will definitely tell others not to either.

Stopped in for a quick lunch, left totally satisfied. Ordered the 1/4 Dark Rotisserie Chicken combo with mash, and coleslaw. The chicken was very flavorful and juicy, perfectly seasoned (imo). The mash and the coleslaw tasted very fresh and homemade, and the cornbread! Soft and moist and very delicious. If you’re ever in the area, stop in. I’ll be back for sure.

2xs now I ordered 2 orders of 16 piece chicken for my staff lunches. We ordered ahead, we ordered online. Both times we go in when order says it’s ready and the 2 women didn’t even put the chicken in the fryer until we walked in. So instead of being able to enjoy the lunch with my staff, due to me waiting so long to pick up food AFTER I received a text that the order was ready, I spent my lunch time at their counter waiting for the food. Almost 170 in the last 2 weeks for staff lunch and they don’t even start cooking it until I walk in. I even showed them the text notification that I received that my order was ready for pickup and their answer was….well it’s not and we will start cooking it now. It takes me 20 mins to drive there from my business, and then I have to wait another 25 mins while they cook pre-ordered chicken? Nah…this is the last time I’ll order from there. Stop sending notifications that an order is ready for pickup when it’s not even been cooked yet!! (And that’s with not 1 customer in the place)

Pop’s Chicken in New Jersey is a hidden gem that brings a delightful twist to classic fast food fare. From the moment I walked into the cozy restaurant, the tantalizing aroma of sizzling chicken and grilled burgers filled the air, promising a scrumptious dining experience.

I ordered through Door Dash and the portions were still a great size. Most restaurants tend to throw stuff together and make smaller sizes but not this place. The menu is HUGE, there is so much to choose from. I ordered, 3 piece fried chicken meal with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes; husband had 4 piece catfish meal with sweet potatoes and stuffing. We also had a side of Macaroni and cheese and collard greens! I was SO shocked that the food was actually authentic and they even gave us hot sauce and tarter sauce on the side. The collard greens and creamed spinach was actually seasoned, and really well at that, plus it wasn’t choppy like frozen greens other places serve. The mash potatoes and sweet potatoes were so soft and tasty. The fried chicken was actually big pieces of chicken. My greedy self was skeptical wondering how 3 would be enough but it was. It was nice and crispy and still moist. The catfish was my favorite. The fish tasted very fresh and the fried skin was crispy, and flaky (whichever describes it being light). And being that it’s so delicious, I couldn’t believe they serve it as 4 pieces! And they were big pieces, at least 8 inches. The stuffing was soft, I thought it would be a crumble but it actually worked well. And omg, the cornbread was like Cake! It was so soft and moist. Idk how they got it buttery but they did! And Idk what brand tarter sauce or hot sauce they use, but it definitely tasted like a 5 star named brand. Communication was excellent. They didn’t have hush puppies for me, so they gave me the recommended Mac & Cheese with no extra charge and sent me an email about it, which was fine with me because it was also tasty. It’s more cheesy than most places, although I wouldn’t mind it cheesier. For all the food I bought, I spent about 45 (not including the door dash fees & tip but it was WORTH IT). $45 for all this authentic, dinner plate sized food?! Yes, I definitely recommend this restaurant and I cannot wait to try their banana pudding, peach cobbler and the Mexican menu they also have. I still can’t believe how much food choices are in this restaurant but I will be trying it all!

Top notch wings done well and good quality too. My 1st time there. I had heard good things about Pop’s so I had to go. Got 10 wings, 5 sweet & spicy asian, 5 medium buffalo. I’m kinda stingy with my ratings but I’m giving them a solid 8.68 on a scale of 1-10.
