Had a last-minute dinner decision come along and we revisited Backporch Drafthouse. Interior design is a little different from the Temple location but still has a comfortable feel walking in. It was also a recently hired waitress…that in the end did a great job.

The chicken strip were the best I think I’ve had. They were a good portion and very tender. I liked that they have sports of all kinds on. I didn’t drink, but my daughter did. She drank it before I could get a picture. Lol. Apparently it was good. I did order a side salad but never got it.

Walking in my best friend and I spoke immediately to the woman working the door however, after I said hello to her, she stood silent and void of acknowledgement so, I stood staring at her and she me until her mind came back to her body and asked if we we needed a table for two. It was truly awkward as she stood as if her mind was simply blank for what seemed like 30 seconds which you know is in fact, too long of a pause when in conversation…

We were greeted and seated promptly and our waitress, Kayla, came out quickly and did an excellent job with service, and checking back on us regularly. The restaurant was clean, but we were less than impressed with the food. It seemed greasy, as if the oil was not heated enough before cooking the fries. My chicken fried steak just separated, batter from the meat, while trying to cut it. We’ll give it a break and try it again at a later date. A definite issue was the metal chairs at the tables, I heard an elderly gentleman complain to his waitress that they were the most uncomfortable chairs he’s sat in, I had to agree, no padding just a metal chair.

This was a great place to stop for lunch. The food was delicious and the service was awesome. I had a Urban Cowboy burger with regular fries and a sweet tea. My burger was flavorful and juicy. I think the grilled onion really made the burger. My fries were hot and the tea was sweet. Our server was on point making sure our drinks were always full. It was a great experience and we’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

The Food Dude

With this place being new it looks great. Food is ok. Starting with the hamburger called The Legend. It’s a pretty standard themed hamburger, however the meat wasn’t very well seasoned making the beef bland. The bacon was soggy or under cooked bacon. The sauce had a very unusual tang to it that just through everything off. The flavors in this burger didn’t mesh very well either making for an odd eating experience. Honestly, with as mainstream as this theme burger is I found it very hard to get behind and fully enjoy it.

“Fish Bowl” drink is super good. Not very much alcohol in it so ask for extra if you like a stronger drink. If your a light drinker like myself and prefer fruity drinks this is a fantastic choice.
