Small restaurant.. lots of staff. Slow service. Bf ordered bowl of chowder. Chowder was okay.. I ordered a chicken ceaser salad. Came out with No dressing. Asked for it to be dressed. After 10 min. I had to ask for the manager to see were my salad was. One of the other girls ran off to see if it was ready… 3 min later. And after my BF had finished his meal my salad arrived.. via manager.. who was really apologetic. He did say that, he would take care of it. (Meaning taking it off the bill) Our server was obviously New..

So yeah the staffs are helpful, didn’t too long to be seated . The food is ok. I ordered fish and rice instead of the chips. My husband ordered beef tips. The presentation of the food is great . Sadly the food was overcooked. The taste is ok nothing like i would like to order again.

Lamb was overcooked, baked potato was precooked and then microwaved, the snapper was good but the Yukon wedges were basically fried into hard chips and they allowed a drunk large group holler and carry on all through our meal. I think this restaurant needs better management

Went for Valentines Day and had an amazing experience. Live piano player and beautiful tables created a very romantic setting. We choose the Valentines package which was a 4 course meal with options for wine or champagne pairings. The first course was a green lipped muscle that was phenomenal, the second course a tomato bisque that I will now compare every other tomato bisque to because it was that delicious, and the main course was a filet mignon with scallops. I am a bit of a picky steak eater, but the filet was cooked to perfection and seasoned nicely, served with a chimichurri sauce that put it over the top. For desert they served chocolate covered strawberries and individual NY style cheesecakes. The overall experience left me feeling special and spoiled, just what a good Valentines date is supposed to accomplish! They even offered a complimentary professional photograph for each couple and a red rose! It was little touches like that which really set the experience above and beyond a regular restaurant date night.

Had a new waitstaff in training. GF chicken caesar salad was served undressed sent back to be tossed with dressing. I finished my dinner when GF salad returned. Manager was very professional and understanding.

Everything here either has a strange after taste due to combination of ingredients that dont go together or are just bland and greasy. The small dinner salad is slightly a better choice than the worse so called clam chowder i have ever had the displeasure of tasting. The clam chowder taste and smell like a warm chum bucket that was forgotten about, then soup was made. This menu is not for anyone who cares about their taste buds.

The service and view (before dark) are the highlights. The food isn’t outstanding considering it’s fine dining, and prices are too high in my opinion. They don’t have a kids menu – go to Timbers.

I used to LOVE the plank house for years. This past visit tags it as a NEVER RETURN to restaurant. Where to begin, the menu has had multiple changes and I believe the food comes from a whole different kitchen now. Food is SUB PAR for the price as a whole, not worth it. The big reason for the 1 star though is the service. The manager on duty Terry K. Served us Bloody Mary’s that were at no point drinkable. It was thick tomato juice with a stick of celery in it. Upon informing Terry K. that the bloody Marys were not drinkable. She interrupted our dining to have my husband and I sign the lines ( that she drew in front of us on a receipt) stating that we didn’t drink our drinks. I have never had this experience before and in no way believe it is an expected experience to be harassed by a server for returning a bad product. This is after we respectfully accepted her declining to serve a 60 year old member of our party because she forgot her ID. We respect the law, but it seemed downright embarrassing to ask a 60 year old woman for her ID and then refuse to serve her. The whole experience was terrible and we have never felt so disrespected while trying to enjoy a meal. Thanks but no thanks plankhouse. I recommend ANY other establishment in Coos Bay over the plankhouse.
